» Equestria LA announces guests, extends dates, reopens registration [UPDATED]

Equestria LA

Seems that Equestria LA have been busy beavers ever since they sold out of tickets on August 24. This evening we received a rather lengthy press release from Equestria LA’s press relations team which contained a number of updates from the con staff. Perhaps most notably, for those bronies who failed to register before the event sold out, Equestria LA has extended their dates to two full days: November 3-4, 2012. As a result, Equestria LA has reopened registration (along with a general revision of their registration policy) and has reserved a block of rooms at a special rate for congoers at the Hilton Anaheim near the Anaheim Convention Center where the con will be held (for details on this, please look below the cut).

Additionally, Equestria LA has announced two additional guests: FiM writers Amy Keating Rogers (previously interviewed on TRS and featured in one of our previous Writer Appreciation Day articles), writer of “The Last Roundup” and “The Best Night Ever”, and Cindy Morrow, writer of “Winter Wrap-Up”, “Sisterhooves Social”, and “Hurricane Fluttershy” (among others). This will be Morrow’s first pony convention (Amy previously attended Bronycon 2012 and will be attending Canterlot Gardens at the end of this month).

Finally, for those of you too far away to head out there on your own, The Round Stable (co-)editor-in-chief KefkaFloyd will be attending EQLA and will be sure to report on the con when he returns!

[UPDATE] The EQLA crew wants to mention the following with regards to hotel rooms:

We sent out a link for our hotel room blocks last night. Currently, the link we were given works for the main night of our show, November 3.  We’re working with the hotel to add additional nights at our convention rate to our reservation website as they become available. We’re also working to add additional nights without our convention rate to our reservation link for easier booking. In the meantime, you can secure additional dates surrounding our show by calling the Anaheim Hilton directly and mentioning Equestria LA.

As always, the nitty-gritty details of the press release sit below the cut!

Equestria LA (EQLA) is pleased to announce that we’re expanding! Southern California’s premiere My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic convention will now span two full days at the Anaheim Convention Center! That means even more panels, events, and pony-related activities for attendees to enjoy!

Due to the expanded timeframe, the policy for badge registration is also changing. Head on over to our webpage for more details.

If you already registered for a badge prior to September 1, 2012 you should have received or will be receiving an email regarding your current registration.

In addition we are pleased to announce that we have partnered with the Anaheim Hilton to provide attendees with a limited block of rooms at a special convention rate! If you have registered and would like to receive our special rate please email registration@equestriala.com with the subject line: EQLA2012 ROOM RATE.

Finally and most importantly, it gives us great pleasure to announce that show writers Amy Keating Rogers and Cindy Morrow will be in attendance at Equestria LA 2012.

Amy Keating Rogers originally began writing plays. In fact, when her play “The Stuff” was being produced in Hollywood, Craig McCracken approached her to write for The Powerpuff Girls (she was working as a Production Assistant at the time). Craig liked her work and she was brought on as Head Writer for the show. From there, Amy wrote for many Cartoon Network shows: Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

As a freelance writer, Amy wrote for My Life as a Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom, and The Fairly OddParents. Oh, and let’s not forget, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! Amy was thrilled when Lauren Faust asked her to write for this terrific show!

Most recently, Amy was Story Editor of Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot.

Cindy Morrow graduated from CalArts alongside Character Animation classmates Lauren Faust, Rob Renzetti, Craig McCracken, & Genndy Tartakovsky. She began her animation career as a storyboard artist on Craig McCracken’s Powerpuff Girls and has writing and board credits on popular shows such as Dexter’s Laboratory, The Misadventures of Flapjack, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Chowder, The Ricky Gervais Show, Care Bears, and of course My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!

Cindy is extremely excited to be a guest at her very first MLP convention, and looks forward to meeting all the devoted fans and great supporters of My Little Pony!

Head on over to our page to check out our updated prices, purchase or upgrade your badge and all our latest news! Come join in on an entire weekend of pony related fun on November 3rd and November 4th! We look forward to seeing you there!
