Re: UPDATE YOUR BROWSER!

On the subject of browsers and updates, I've noticed that Task Manager reports "very high" power usage when I play YouTube videos as of late, accompanied by lots of heat from the box. I'm pretty sure this is caused by the new AV1 video format that Firefox just added support for, which saves a tiny a...

TIL some TVs have a feature where they can control other devices over the HDMI cable. I found this out because I just bought a used Blu-Ray player at a rummage sale for $5 that was missing its remote, and figured on picking up a replacement online or getting a universal remote. But I hooked it up to...

TIL where the term "catfishing" comes from: The term was coined during a 2010 documentary, Catfish , when a subject told a story about the journey of live cod from the United States to China. Apparently, to prevent the cod from becoming lazy and their flesh turning to mush, seafood suppliers add to ...

Re: testing my left mouse button to make sure it's right

I had this exact same thing happen to me just a few weeks ago. The buttons and top shell are all one piece of very thin plastic, and one of the buttons somehow got bent slightly inward so it was overlapping something it's supposed to slide past. So for a couple minutes I was like, what the hell brok...

Addendum: I think instead of a specific party member being able to foresee the timing of enemy moves, you just eventually gain this ability on a per-enemy basis after fighting the same enemy enough times. Observant players would likely learn to guess it anyway, so might as well make it an official m...

I switched from an iOS phone to Android a couple years ago, and the only thing I really miss is iOS's auto-correct, which is approximately 400 times better than the garbage Android one. Good to know. The only consistent problem I've had with the autocorrect on this iPad is a weird tendency to retro...

Today I witnessed the weirdest failure of an electronic device I've ever seen: My clock radio, which I haven't actually used as a radio in years, randomly turned itself on early in the morning. The first two games in the series did get Windows ports, eventually. The second one infamously required Windows Vista despite not actually making use of any of its features (it literally just checked what OS version you had and refused to run if it was older; this was easily circumvented) and I'm no...
