"Baba is You" is good. Also, right up there with The Witness and Stephen's Sausage Roll.

Just got done watching Vinny play Super Mario Land, a game I have no prior experience with, and I now have a question: Is there some famous fangame or other amateur game (ex. I Wanna Be the Guy, Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden, etc.) that used the World 2 theme as end credits music? It sounds super familiar, and especially puts me in mind of end credits.

Never seen a game before where hiding in a pile of drops is a legit useful tactic. This player ended up winning the round, I think.

I just finished NieR:Automata. While it might have been a little too challenging, the ending at least gave me the challenge I was waiting for.

I've done most, but not all, of the quests, and I probably won't go back to this game. Not for a long while anyway. I have very mixed feelings about it overall. I was mindlessly chugging through quests (optional and required) for the most part, and the gameplay was only fun in bursts and got pretty repetitive.

PS4, Xbone, and PC are out on June 18
Switch is out on June 25

Congratulations! The second quest really ends up feeling more like a normal zelda game in a few ways, since the game's dungeon design stops throwing so many keys at you :-I

In recognition of Minecraft's 10th anniversary, Mojang have recreated Minecraft Classic as a Java-free browser app.

It works a bit differently than I remember; you have to right-click and then left-click to place a block, and scroll several notches to actually scroll through the hotbar. And you can't save or load, so my ancient .mine file that I somehow still have is going to have to remain unopened.

This is like the third time I’ve bounced off the God of War remake, and it’s always in the same area: after the worlds hub opens, because it turns out open world and dicking around MMORPG style with incremental codpiece upgrades are not what I want from GOW. And that’s the point where all the little systems and collectibles and shit just get too much, and I sigh wearily instead of enjoying the characters and story and action like I’d been doing to that point.

It was so compelling in the early hours. But at this point, I’m not sure if I shouldn’t just give up and watch the ending on YouTube or something. :(

lately, i've been playing a really interesting shmup that came out last year, called ZeroRanger

...
Just flat out: if you're interested in this game, don't look up any spoilers. Just play it. This game is something truly special, and I highly recommend it.
I enjoy shmups in theory, but in practice most of them are too hard for me so I'm afraid to drop money on them. But Zeroranger is very accessible and I'm enjoying gradually getting better!

I might not take the time to 1CC it, but it's the first serious shmup I've played where that seems possible (with enough effort). Maybe it'll be a good gateway to other games in the genre.

I've also enjoyed the [spoilers]. I only predicted a little of them.

If anyone is interested, there's a very well done free demo on itch.io

Outer Wilds came out today (on Xbox, out on PC tomorrow I guess) and it is rad as heck. Think Majora's Mask meets No Man's Sky - you're flying around a small solar system being an astronaut & archaeologist and figuring out what happened to an ancient species, and also every 20 minutes the sun explodes and resets you to the beginning of a time loop (unless you kill yourself by accidentally flying into the sun or ejecting without your space suit before that happens). Your ship's logs of everything you discover stays with you between loops, though.

Here's Austin Walker describing it in better words than I could: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/mb8p ... -the-world

I am seriously looking forward to Bloodstained and getting my Igavania on :flail: If I enjoy it, I’m gonna be trying low level runs, crazy loot grinding, and all the other things that are fun to do with his older games. As great as Hollow Knight and the like are, none of the indie Metroidvanias I’ve played have scratched that particular itch for me.

Also, thanks to past me for backing the game so future me has something new to play this summer :-I

I never played it and then it went away.

I played champions online but apparently there's no real similarities there other than 'it's super heroes' so I don't think that counts. Also the devs of champions online are pretty bad since I once uninstalled it and it gave me a survey thing and was like "Why did you uninstall" and I said "because people were very rude to me" and then a week later I got an Email saying they banned me :v:

Champions Online also has some of the ugliest UI I've ever seen

In their effort to make it look all COMIC it looks like they ran super cheap filters over it and applied an obnoxious COMIC font in 1998 quality that screams "how do you do fellow kids"

so it annoying to read and the menus and windows are ugly as sin and hard to use

They're finally doing an official release of Seiken Densetsu 3 outside of Japan! I never in a million years would have guessed that was coming. What is this. How did this happen. I can't words anymore.

I must have finally hit the “old and jaded” stage of life because exactly zero of the announcements at e3 got me interested this year. :v: They’re obviously setting up for the “you need to give us $500 for new hardware” announcements next year but I just don’t care about AAA games (especially the big franchises), Pokémon games, Rare and their characters, or old Capcom/Sega/Witcher ports. I don’t care about Final Fantasy or anything EA, Activision or Ubisoft publishes. I don’t bother with Platinum games because they frustrate me and make me upset, even though they’re well made, and I’m past the point of buying something just because everyone else loves it. I’m sorry for that! It sounds so dickish! I feel like the biggest assclown writing all that out but it’s true.

I don’t like BOTW either so a sequel to that is just, well, I hope other people are excited! I hope other people got what they wanted this year! I don’t want to be a downer, and I’m sorry I am one. I haven’t actually finished a Zelda game since Ocarina of Time, outside of the two awful DS games for some reason, so I’m just going to go ahead and say that I don’t think I like Zelda any more either. Uggh, I feel like a toad. I’m not sure what I do like.

Like Seiken Densetsu 3 getting localized is kinda cool, but I already played it on an emulator years ago. I feel bad saying that, too.

I gotta say, Twitch is like the only major website that seems to have actual rules and the balls to enforce them these days. Doesn't matter how famous you are.

On the other hand they also sold Gamepedia off to Wikia, which is the equivalent of selling Target to Walmart, so let's say they're karmically neutral at the moment.

The Best Friends broke up altogether a few months ago. They're all doing their own things, but still crossover and collaborate on things occasionally, like this particular LP.
