idk if i'd call patches the most powerful card ever, there's some decent competition
like: pre-nerf big game hunter, dr. boom, mysterious challenger, ultimate infestation, anduin dk, FUCKING undertaker (pre-nerf)
actually like half the naxx cards were fucking ridiculous

Re: Hearthstone Thread: How Long Can This Go On?
Pre-nerfed cards don't really count because Blizzard realized their
mistakes (although Spreading Plague definitely wasn't nerfed enough). Dr Boom isn't used in Wild at all anymore, but back in the day it was definitely OP. The deck-thinning aspect of Patches is powerful enough, but giving it charge where it can be cold blooded or buffed in some other way, like Keleseth, makes it bonkers. UI is probably the second most powerful behind Patches. The formula for card draw has always been 1 mana for the first card, then 2 more for each additional card. Arcane Intellect is 3, Nourish is 5, Sprint is 7. So logically drawing 5 cards should cost 9. Which means with UI, for one mana, you get to deal 5 damage, gain 5 armor, and summon a 5/5, which is completely absurd.

were you playing when original undertaker was a thing? the card was a 1/2 1-drop that gained +1/+1 whenever you played a deathrattle. The thing was ridiculously abusable. but yeah i guess if you dont count prenerf cards thats fine

also re: ultimate infestation, yeah, its pretty overvalue for the cost. I wonder if it would have been closer to balanced if they had made it 4/4/4/4 instead. It would still be pretty powerful

why do people play zoo lock? it's just "play these 1 and 2 cost minions and throw them at the opponent's face and if they survive past turn 5 you lose"

It's a deck that's cheap to make and easy to understand, so literally anyone can make a zoo lock.Gloomy Rube wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2017 5:39 pmwhy do people play zoo lock? it's just "play these 1 and 2 cost minions and throw them at the opponent's face and if they survive past turn 5 you lose"

Also imo zoolock is more interesting than your average aggro deck because it's actually a board control deck. You're supposed to use your efficient minions to take advantageous trades. This is more fun than just going face
not that i play it often, but still

I don't think I've ever encountered a Nemsy player that isn't a Zoo deck.
It's like back when Quest Rogue was still a thing, Maiev players were always Quest and Valeeras were Miracle.

I play Nemsy and none of them are zoo decks, it's mostly hand denial and milling, the rarest of all warlocks

What's with all the bots playing unranked mode? They all have names like G593F23D and so forth and it's really weird.

I like how often I've been linking up with an opponent in ranked only to have their name be "Your Opponent," and all they do is greet you on their first turn before conceding on the second.

Kobolds and Catacombs is out, along with some quests for going into Dungeon Run. DR is cool and fun. Had a really great run going with a Shaman spell deck, until the second-to-last boss was designed specifically for countering that shit and I got hosed pretty damn thoroughly.

I got the Paladin legendary weapon, so I made a Handbuff Paladin. Drygulch Jailor is amazing for them. It adds 3 1-cost minions that get buffed like crazy in your hand, so by the end of the game you're dropping 1-mana 6/6's.

Holy shit Azari the Devourer is busted. Just casually mills your deck two cards every turn, for free.

How the fuck are you supposed to beat the Trapped Room in a Dungeon Run? You can't play spells, you can't play minions, you can't use your hero power without getting a giant swarm of 3/3 minions against you.

So Recruit Druid is pretty nuts. The only deck I've lost to with it has been Quest Mage:

Warrior was the only one that gave me trouble. All the others I completed on my first or second try. I did all 9 classes during the short periods of time I was at our AirBnB on my Maui vacation.

Re: Hearthstone Thread: How Long Can This Go On?
I'd just like to say that Arcane Artificer is just the best
Big Spell Mage is exactly the type of aggro-destroying deck I love to play.
Here's the list I've been using:

# Format: Standard
# Year of the Mammoth
#
# 2x (1) Arcane Artificer
# 1x (2) Acidic Swamp Ooze
# 2x (2) Doomsayer

# 2x (3) Lone Champion

The hearthstone bots are so bad right now. The rogue I'm fighting uses their hero power every turn.
Even when they have a 3/3 weapon out. It's amazing. HEY BOTS YOUR RANDOM PAUSES DON'T FOOL ME

Re: Hearthstone Thread: How Long Can This Go On?
I'm back to my old tricks, using a razakus priest that is literally identical except for replacing lyra and holy fire with auctioneer and psychic scream
Because I hadn't bothered doing any ladder before now, I'm still at low ranks on the 20th of the month, so it is EXTREMELY effective. Psychic scream in particular is a great card, especially versus that guy-maker aggro paladin thing. Enjoy your silver hand recruit draws!!!
Also re: that paladin, someone should tell him that deliberately drawing the razakus priest 3 cards off of acolyte of pain just to give yourself a bigger divine favor is not, in fact, a good idea

Re: Hearthstone Thread: How Long Can This Go On?
How do you win as Warlock in the Dungeon Runs? Get the Scepter of Summoning and follow it up with 3 Voidlords and 2 Mal'Ganises and get 'em all out at once. Vustrasz never stood a chance.
I will say this: Watching Trump (The Hearthstone player, not the President) play through the dungeons has helped immensely, with one bit of advice that's really rung home: Pick cards as if you're going into the final boss with those cards, even if it's not good in the early part of the run. The earlier bosses are forgiving enough that a pick that's strong against the final boss but too large for the earlier fights isn't going to kill you. Also beware of a late-game Sturmi if you have a lot of good Deathrattles or powerful abilities, but that's a given.
Against the Trapped Room, it's pretty RNG based. If you can avoid popping traps and still get rid of his Ethereal Arcanists and Secretkeepers, all you need to do is pass. Since it's only possible to find it as the 7th boss, your deck's gonna be bigger and you can fatigue it out that way. It really just comes down to what random secrets pop into play at the start and whether any of them can counter your means of removing those 2 minions (or whether he overdraws on Secrets and mills them). It is possible to wade through all of those secrets and win (and I have seen a Big Warrior deck with a lot of massive Taunts do just this), but usually it's safer to take it cautiously.

There's a lot of small changes you can make to the list but this is the general gist. It used to run golakka crawler but pirates aren't nearly as common now.
Remember not to use your mind blast and smite early, you need them for your 30->0 combo (although you can sometimes get away with using smite against aggro)
