This episode brought us "trollestia". Also Philomena's design is beautiful.

I never got how a simple joke to lighten the mood turned into "trollestia" by this fandom.

The fandom often has the same character as an audience at a smash bros tournament. Any move made by the writers is met with a thousand people screaming the most extreme response "OOH SHE'S TROLLING. GG CELESTIA."

Celestia is over 1000 years old. She has seen everything and she has done everything. Trolling is her hobby for getting through the centuries. I cannot blame her. I'd do probably do that myself if I was in a position of power and being bored (and centuries old).

Regardless of how the fandom takes jokes too far, I really do enjoy that Celestia has a sense of humour.

As I faintly remember from having been a bystander back then, by April the fandom's hype levels were rapidly approaching their maximum. By then,
anything was going to get carried super far.

This episode and Best Night Ever are what made her my favorite character. Sheβs basically Pony Dumbledore.

This inspired me to doodle
I was just going to redraw the phoenix strip but four whole panels is effort.

I really don't like this episode. For the most part, it struck me as formulaic, unfunny, and, in terms of Philomena's performance, a bit unnecessarily mean.
But there's a couple decent lines now and again.
