But... Fluttershy's freaky knowledge of sewing...? :um:

But Rainbow Dash is friends with Fluttershy. :ponder:

I expect this one to be better than the synopsis indicates. Dash and Rarity usually make for fun episodes.

Prediction: They decide to be still "friends" although they find nothing in common. They just accept to be peer-pressured by social norms by their other friends to be together in one way or another.

I also predict a montage in the style of the Cutie Mark Crusaders finding their talents.

This reminded me of Non-Compete Clause in all the bad ways. :pinkieshrug:

They've made them teachers, but they don't let them teach. Give the conflict to the students and let Rarity and Rainbow Dash you know, teach. They didn't need Twilight and Starlight making them look like fools.

There were some fun antics with the two, and Rarity made a horse noise, but still a let down of an episode.

It wasn't a great episode but it had some great character interactions. Also RD called Rarity a horse.

It wasn't too bad. The monster with the bad breath was different. RD using the H word to refer to Rarity stood out for me as well.

I didn’t hate it or like it. It was an episode I guess?

I think the same.

Eh, I thought it was cute.
Sure, the premise was silly (not something that has ever stopped pony before...), but the charm of the (re)growing affection between the twain as the episode progressed won me over completely.

Of course they didn't. After all, Rarity and Rainbow Dash did a far better job of being fools, all on their own!

But seriously, it's a lesson about respect, one that even I feel like I need to remember sometimes. Unless someone is interested in eating babies or something like that, then just because another person has different interests than you doesn't mean you should automatically put that person down. Especially if it's someone you care about, you should at the very least be glad for your friend's enthusiasm, even if you don't quite find common ground as these two did. (That's where this episode succeeded and Non-Compete Clause failed; the latter was basically just Applejack and Rainbow Dash arguing for 22 minutes.)

I appreciate this since I feel like I still sometimes dismiss things that others care about without a second thought. I grew up thinking that sort of attitude was totally cool (after all, the cool people on Something Awful did it all the time!) and, while I know I'm better about it now, I still feel that kneejerk response kick in sometimes. I hope that the kids these days who are growing up with this show will take today's lesson to heart.

I liked this episode well enough. There were a lot of cute scenes, the adventure part was fun, and the frog was good.

Oddest part was Starlight doing the book thing instead of Twilight.

The legendary artifacts are being emphasized again, so they'll definitely be in the season finale. I expect that secret passage will be too.

:ponder: It’s Friday night ...
:dreamworks: I think I’ll watch a ponies!

:applejargh: “How come I ain’t the example? Rarity and me are BFFs an’ we can’t even stand each other!” :vogue: “It’s true, we can’t.”
• Nice save, Starlight!
:iiaia: “athleisure wear”
• Heels on a horse ARE useless! This episode is so meta. And then Rarity makes a horse noise.
• Rarity shedding glitter all over the place is a great running gag.
• guidance counselor slash couples therapist Starlight Glimmer
• Starlight is a crucial source of the :facehoof: snarky sourness Twilight stopped providing after princessing
• Lyra and Bon-Bon are still the cutest couple.
• Rarity saying “Caballeron” is a thing I’ve replayed five times and counting.
• This is a pretty serious and realistic conflict being addressed this week, but at the same time it’s really fun and funny. Which is quite a feat!
• They could have solved the problem by LOOKING UP.
• Rarity’s been grinding her lockpicking skill! And to think Dash said it was a trap stat.
• And then Rarity kicks like a horse! :awesomedash:

This one was really fun with — dare I say — a very S1 feel. Two main characters with a very basic friendship problem: even after all these seasons there are still good episodes to be mined from that.

Cute episode, although it was straight down the middle. Points for picking a rare character combination.
