This is really early to post this, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I didn't really dig the episode. It didn't feel like . Like, if someone was to watch this episode accidentally as their first episode, I think they'd get a really poor impression of the show, like it's just another cartoon.

At least the final wrap up was pretty good, if a little forced. But overall, it's probably my least favorite of S2, and possibly least favorite period. I just didn't feel like most of the episode was very interesting beyond the occasional joke. "Spike's a ghost?!"

So glad I got to watch it live for once. Quite impressed with the episode, but super hero type stuff is always fun, I guess. Liked the design of Mare-do-well, that haaat.

Also, Hasbro really should make Dash Hair hats and Rainbow Hats with wings.

See, all the other pony episodes have this "ha ha, you're still watching My Little Pony, only it's awesome now" quality about them. This one, though... it felt like it could have been any show I tuned in any time of day. There's nothing pony about it.

That plus the Pinkie Sense callback has me thinking Merriweather Williams is a Dave Polsky pseudonym.

Yeah, it only gets an A instead of an A+.

It'll take a rewatch, but I didn't see any particularly eyecatching animated sequences this time around.

Yeah, I'm gonna come out and say this is probably the low point of the season for me.
And no, not just because they're making an example of my favorite pony.

I mean, I guess it was pretty necessary to have a "teach Dash humility" episode after they have a "teach Dash not to be so shallow" episode, but still.
Don't worry though, Rarity fans. You'll get your "teach Rarity not to be so obsessed with the popular crowd" episode next week.

...we sure do get a lot of episodes with Rarity and Dash that try to help them identify and overcome their flaws. Maybe we RD and Rarity fans should stick together for a while.

Hey, they didn't actually do a letter on-screen this time. Also I'm glad to see Pinkie Sense get a shout-out.

A decent episode on the whole, I guess, but probably the weakest one of the season so far. Truth be told, the way the moral was executed kind of rubs me the wrong way; I think it would have been better if the Mare-Do-Well actually was one pony all along. Trading off between three of them like that is kind of cheating, and I can't help but think the lesson would work better if Dash had to confront the fact that someone was actually better than her. Also, the fact that the whole thing was deliberately engineered to teach her a lesson feels just a tad vindictive.

Plus I feel like we missed out on an opportunity for another cool one-shot.

I liked this better than last week's, although it did feel different than the usual episode. It did get obvious who the Mysterious Mare was half-way through, but I enjoyed it.

And it's about time they referenced Pinkie Sense again.

They're separate people. Williams was a writer on "Camp Lazlo" and "SpongeBob SquarePants" previously (among other shows).

Nice episode. The identity of MMDW was pretty obvious about halway throught but I like how they played that out.

Also, Twilight confirmed as best pony hero. I mean, saving babies, elderly ponies, pony wagons and construction workers is great but saving the whole town from being flooded by that dam is way more impressive.

By the way, who saved the pony on the falling baloon? None of them took credit for that.

I have to say I'm a little bit bothered by heavy construction and hydroelectricity in my pony show.

I mean, buses and levitated peanut butter jars they're careful about still, but did nobody on staff find those additions to Equestria to be... like, really disruptive to the universe?
