Years from now, Princess Twilight is visited by a student with a friendship problem. As she attempts to solve it, she looks back on the times she and the Mane Six spent together.
This thread is for early discussion of the episode. The series finale of MLP: FiM airs on Discovery Family at 9:00pm / 6:00pm Pacific on Saturday, October 12 or 19, henceforth this thread will be locked.

I got the gist of the episode. Huge endgame spoilers follow.

-Twilight becomes a full-fledged alicorn in a timeskip.
-she is just meeting Starlight and Sunburst's filly, Luster Dawn, who will become her prodigy just like Twilight was for Celestia
-full generation later, CMC & class all grown up
-mane 6 have noticeable wrinkles
-Lyra & Bon Bon are married
-Pinkie & Cheese Sandwich are married and have a filly
-Discord & Fluttershy may be married
-prodigy filly goes around seeing how rest of Mane 6 are doing, etc., but ep is mostly a flashback to the proper coronation.
-episode ends with closing of book

I am genuinely saddened and upset that they made all the dumb Twilight crying over her friend's gravestones fanart canon.

I am also supremely disappointed that the show doesn’t end on a high note like the other would be finales in S3 and S4. It just ends.

Not gonna watch the leaks, but all that sounds amazing.

Most of that sounds pretty good. Bit "Harry Potter" epilogue-ish, but good.

Not a fan of Twilight becoming a giant Alicorn though, she shouldn't need to change (again). And yeah, opening up the whole "forever alone" thing with her aging friends seems unnecessary.

you can retcon it as all alicorns eventually aging that way, but again that brings up the question of who the hell was the first alicorn, since Celestia just gave Twilight hers.

best not to think about it much, the sorry crop of writers to finish this off certainly didn't care to.

What do you mean by giving it away?

Celestia used some type of insane magic to make Twi an alicorn in MMC. That creates a paradox if an alicorn is required to create an alicorn, etc.

That was all Twi in MMC, Celestia was just there to welcome and congratulate her.

I can't believe Pinkie Pie and Inksuit Pony Weird Al got married and had a kid. Not even complaining, I'm just tickled to death over it.

I also feel like I'm one of the few to not mind Twilight becoming immortal when her friends don't? Like, I don't feel like Friendship should equal some kind of drastic co-dependency? I'm sort of reminded about how I was bugged by the end of the Ticket Master stating Twilight would give up her chance to go the Grand Galloping Gala if her friends couldn't all go.

I liked it even if the obvious ships are uhh.. a little too obvious and tryhard. I'll wait till the normal ep release to get into it.

Also new Tsparks and Spike designs suuuuuuuuuuuuuck. They are just dreadful.

But overall a fine end to the series that leaves room to continue, fill in the time gap, or just ignore Ep 26 outright if they want depending on if G5 is successful or a disaster or whatever.

I find it very inconsistent with how things have played out between the Mane Six throughout the series. They have been bound together by fate since they got their cutiemarks, conquered every major threat together (besides Starlight), and have done things worthy of ascension on their own (Rainboom/Redeeming Discord). There are six thrones in Twilight’s castle even. Also the very spell that caused Twilight to ascend even alludes to the rest of the Mane Six: “From all of us together, together we're friends. With the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end!”

Like most things in the final few seasons the writers stopped giving a fuck about established and running themes and instead started writing a generic children’s show.

upon further review this part is probably false
