Can we talk about Breaking Bad? Let's talk about Breaking Bad. Because it's one of the best shows on TV right now. What is Breaking Bad, you ask?

Breaking Bad follows the adventures of Walter White, a mild mannered high school chemistry teacher played by Bryan Cranston (previously best known for his role as Hal in Malcom in the Middle) who is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Not wanting to face his family and fearing he has little time left, Walt uses his knowledge of chemistry to team up with a former student of his, Jesse Pinkman, to cook crystal meth to try to make as much money as he possibly can before he dies.

Needless to say, Walt hits a few bumps along the road.

If you haven't watched Breaking Bad you definitely should. It comes with DarkMatter's Seal of Approval™ and the first four seasons can be viewed on Netflix streaming right now!

:sweetielarm: BEWARE OF SPOILERS :sweetielarm:
Breaking Bad has just started its fifth season so, if you have not seen up to that point, be wary of spoilers. Proceed with caution!

I think we should also institute method of spoilers as we do with ponies. Wait a good 24 before posting spoilers about the latest episode and if you do keep it behind a spoiler cut!

:-P "Yo, Mr. White! Let's get bakin! ...Bitch!"

This show scares me. I just know that one day I'm going to run into an over zealous police officer who assumes all chemists are drug dealers.

Breaking bad is a glorious show and I've been watching it since day 1. Man was I pissed about season 1 being only 6 episode long due to the writers strike. But then again, if it wasn't for the writers strike Jesse would have been killed off at the originally planned end of season 1. He was kept around because they got enough time between airing and making season 2 to get feedback and find out he was loved.

This is one of the best Jesse things (obviously there are many more...)

I can't even imagine how the show would have played out if that happened. :gonkity:

Last night's episode was great! I knew Mike would come around. Looks like Mr. White is back is business, bitch! :-P

Poor, Jesse, though. He was in tears thinking about how he nearly shot Walt and how Walt is so innocent when Walt is pulling the wool over his eyes and he has no idea. It's probably best Jesse never learns the truth. Walt is such a father figure to him. :fluttersmith:

That moment when they pulled the cigarette out of the roomba was special. For the first time Jesse was truly hit with the weight of his impulsive approach to life. I think it was an even more important turning point than the death of his girlfriend.

Geez, Walt is just becoming less and less of a decent human being each week. Walt asks Jesse "How do you feel?" after Mike takes a cut of each of their profits. Jesse is sharing his feelings with him, about how he broke up with his girlfriend, and Walt just interrupts him saying he doesn't care about that. He's talking about the money. :fluttersmith:

Walt has come a long way since season one.

I've pretty much hated Walt as a human being ever since season 2 when he let Jesse's girlfriend die. I knew it was only a matter of time before he went full-on sociopath.

Now to mention the thing that I have to mention every time this show comes up like a d-bag: This show takes place in my city! The car wash is literally around the corner from the house I am sitting in now and I've seen it nearly every day of my life. And I used to go to the Laser Tag place all the time as a kid! It's still crazy surreal not only to see those locations on TV, but to now associate with them with a murderous meth kingpin.

I don't get my car washed there, too expensive. They seem to do pretty good business despite seemingly being in a weak location. This area is relatively sleepy and residential and doesn't really have the amount of traffic you'd expect for a fancy gigantic car wash like that. It's located on a corner where lots of businesses have went under over the years; it's located right next to a huge empty lot which used to contain a strip mall that was abandoned for years (and which, on a completely unrelated note, used to house a pizza place that had a Showbiz Pizza Band. Hell of childhood memories there.)

I'm sure the show is only helping it's business. In the past few months, I've noticed food/ice cream carts parked outside of it, which I've never seen before.

You fools don't go to that carwash, you're funding a crazy meth lord!

I seriously love this implosion path Walt has been on from the start, going from this bumbling asshole who only knows the vaguest concepts of the criminal underground to this stone cold monster has been an amazingly done arc.

I really, really, want Jesse to get some redemption, though, dude is so much a better person than Walt they do a great job making it just a gutpunch when Walt drags him down.

That entire scene with Walt and Skyler tonight was so incredibly well done. I got chills when Skyler said she just has to wait until Walt's cancer comes back.

That was a great episode.

And before the plan was revealed I thought they'd blow up the train after stealing the methlamine, given it's a radio deadzone destroy the evidence :pinkieshrug: instead of what they did. Still, interesting episode and Jesse is going to freak out now that kid is dead, flashbacks to post-gale trauma

To be fair, they haven't even filmed the rest yet, and it's 16 total.

But yeah, I don't know how they're going to end this run with a proper arc conclusion and not a cliffhanger.

Oh geez. Wow. This season has been amazing. This past episode was great and next week is the last episode for the year. That's going to be a rough wait. Walt isn't Walt anymore. He's just Heisenberg now.

Why, Walt? Why did you kill Mike? :fluttersmith:

Man, I just wanna say, this season has been as much of a blast, as it has been gut wrenchingly awful (in the good way) and we just keep going deeper down the hole.
Some small notes/obversvations:

- Mike's death... Wow- Didn't see that one coming. So horrible, too, because deep down Mike's a pretty good guy doing horrible things. Keeps a code, more or less. Obviously Walt's instability wouldn't let him leave this show alive.

-I know this show can get a little too on the nose (maybe?) but did anyone else think Walt whistling right after telling Jesse to leave because of the accident was a little... hammy? Like, really over the top? I dunno, but it was pretty funny. But way to obvious of a clue for Jesse.

-Walt better be taking notes from Scarface. He's gonna need it.

Oh, and one guess for tonight's episode. Well, more of a "hope", really.
I want the last five minutes to feature Hank stumbling the clues together and figuring out Walt's alter ego. Just as he accepts it (with some camera zoom to his shocked face) the scene cuts to black.
Imagine the next year or so going forward with that information.

The cancer could be back but I also think he didn't realize just how much money he's actually made. He seemed genuinely shocked at what Skylar showed him. I think he also wanted to get his kids back in the house. But the cancer being back might be a good call, seeing how he went to make amends with Jesse and give him his share of the money.

It looks like Walt may finally be back and not Heisenberg. But it might be too late for that.

Alright, a Breaking Bad thread. Nice to know that, come next summer, there'll be people to share "holy crap I can't believe that just happened" and "oh no no no no no don't do it" and "Walt you jackass" moments with.

So, according to Aaron Paul's twitter they've started shooting the final 8, which means that they're probably on track for a July premiere again, which means a long 8 month wait at this point.

Which just reignites my long-held grievance with time being a linear construct.

Love me some Breaking Bad. I was fortunate enough to get into it when it was already done with season four, so I was able to plow through a huge portion of it without the painful waits in between seasons (waiting on a season of My Little Pony is nothing like the break between season three and four must have been for Breaking Bad fans, I'll bet).

I'm actually only halfway through watching season four though. Things got crazy and my watching schedule was disrupted, but I was hoping to wait until season five was on disc before—then I heard they were holding half of the season hostage. :gotcha:

Good news, everyone!

Rian Johnson, the director of Brick, Looper and more relevant-to-the-topic-ly the episodes 'Fly' (one of my favorite episodes) and 'Fifty-One' (also fantastic) announced on his Twitter that he's directing one of the final episodes (the sixth one, he says).

I really should be pacing my hype for this, considering there's still 6 months until the final season but :awesomedash:
