Yup, it's out. I, uh, "aquired" it. I don't think we should talk about it in here until the actual airing, though.

For anyone who missed it, this is the only important event from the season premiere:

Not leaked.

HBO will air the next episode a week early on HBOGO in parts of Europe. They've done it to a few shows in the past (the pacific was out on hbogo first in the US before tv I think for later episodes)

Just a way to push the service onto more customers. It is a good service though, backlog of basically every hbo show :awesomedash:

This says it was a leak:

http://winteriscoming.net/2012/04/hbo-addresses-early-episode-release-rumors/

Pretty sure that's true. Someone would have to check on the polish/dutch HBO to find out if its still there though.

Yep, there was one episode that was released early as a promotion. This one was apparently a leak :pinkieshrug: Guess I'll have to wait two weeks for another episode.

Age: 63

Get your fanfic-writing skills out now because retirement age and a big belly don't mix. I mean I honestly don't wish ill on GRRM but goddamn if I'm not concerned about his heart being a ticking time bomb poised on the edge of a cliff. At worst, the TV series creators can take all the liberal creativity they want for any unfinished parts and add in as many explosions and fight scenes they can care for. I just hope that he'll write faster due to his surging popularity over these past years and the fact that if the TV series catches up to his books, some of his actors and actresses will age beyond what they look like.

I'm also curious as to how they're going to treat books 4 + 5 for TV because of how they're written. I wouldn't mind if they did a megamash of chronologically-ordered events instead of having season 5 do a time warp backwards. I think it's totally possible and can be less confusing than the books since they have room to segway from scene to scene (character to character).

They can't not do that, because that would mean having an entire season with half the cast. It's not feasible, since most of the actors would probably just move on to other projects.

Pretty slow episode, even compared to the last one. And enough with the sex scenes already, jeez!

Whoa, really? Do you have a link? I need to show that announcement to some people.

And agreed that 3 seasons for Feast + Dance would be :gonkity: So much of the Brienne "quest" and Dany being a whiny emo kid in Meereen can be compressed/removed. I was really hoping Feast and Dance would just be ONE season.

Actually, scratch that. Apparently ASOS will be split:

http://hbowatch.com/george-r-r-martin-confirms-game-of-thrones-season-3-to-be-split-two-10-episode-seasons/

Which makes a Season 4 very likely as well, I guess. I don't remember ASOS having that much content to warrant two seasons, but it's been a long time since I read it.

Okay, just finished the last two episodes. 2 was eh. 3 was kind of interesting and fucking owned at the very end! Yoren is my new favorite person-that-takes-forever-to-die of all time. Seriously, dude gets shot with a crossbow bolt, laughs about it, kills a bunch of dudes, get's stabbed with like 3 spears, still kills dudes and they finally have to stick him with like 8 spears to get him to die. That's a hell of an exit.

BTW I'm not going to update the OP with "what happened last time" stuff. I'm too damn lazy for this shit.

This episode was amazing. I see they're being pretty explicit with the things that are only sometimes implied in the books (gay Renly, for example) - the benefit of not having to stick to the perspective of a small group of POV characters, I suppose. Tyrion keeps on being the best character and seeing Varys and Littlefinger again is always great. And nooo Yoren :gonkity:

They do have to dumb a lot of stuff down for the tv series I've noticed, and some merging.

TDC sums up my feelings on this:

Tony Danza Claus wrote:Plus, it's the HBO show, so the dialogue will be

"You saved three lives on that burning cart by giving us the axe. I, Jaqen Haggard will give you three lives in return, meaning I'll kill three people for you."

"I have been repeating a list of names. The list of names I repeat are all bad men. But first kill (stand in character for the slave driver, since the show is fond of character mashups (probably Amory Lorch))."

"I, Jack Haggerty will do this."

(character dies)

"Jack Elrod, plz kill the (Dunsen / Polliver / Raff mashup)"

"I, Sammy Haggar will do this."

(guy dies)

"Now kill yourself, lol."

Saw it and loved it. And frankly, it is completely accurate except that instead of a 13-year old adding the sex scenes, I think it's George himself :gotcha:

Okay new ep tonight at 9 EST I believe. Garden of Bones is the name and if this episode has the event happen that I think will happen, there are gonna be some really mad new fans of the show after tonight.

I'm pretty sure everyone would love to beat the living shit of him which is a shame because apparently he's a really nice guy in real life. That's probably what every actor playing a complete scumbag on TV has to go through, but Joffrey's actor even more so, especially after what he did in the latest episode:

Well, my roommate sucked it up and bought the DVD so I guess I'll be catching up on this. After the first episode, not sure what to think. I would be fairly lost if I weren't getting background from other people watching. I like that relative to the typical fantasy setting it's a lot closer to what actually happened in medieval times, what with arranged marriages, incest, and instant death sentences. Not to mention there's no apparent magic or friendly fantasy species, and there's a willingness to kill off anyone. It could almost be read as a critique of those tropes.

However, not sure what if anything this show has to say about life, other than that historical life was shit, and not sure who I'm supposed to root for. Maybe nobody? Pretty much the only people I'm having fun watching are Tyrion (I think? the little person) and Stark's younger daughter, and maybe sorta Snow and the queen's evil twin brother. Also the grimdark stuff isn't really hitting home for me. Hard to explain, but it feels like it's more about being "mature" than really trying to get to the audience... even if they dragged out that arranged marriage.

It's still a fantasy series, even if stuff like magic and fantastical creatures are very low key. It's not supposed to be completely realistic look at what medieval life was like.

As far as rooting goes, no one really. There aren't really any good or bad guys, just varying degrees of assholes. Some of the characters are a bit more honorable than others, but that doesn't mean they are particularly "good" characters.

Oh and try to stay away from spoilers. There are lots of twists in the storyline, best to stay unspoiled.

Yeah feel free to ask about anything storywise if you're lost. Those of us who read the books will do our best not to spoil you so long as you mention the last thing you saw/heard happen to that character or house. Personally I'm re-reading the books and everything makes a lot more sense the second time around now that I'm familiar with most of the names (it's still a whole freaking lot and I don't care to learn most of the lesser house's names because they don't matter anyway).

Episode-wise though I'm only episode 5 or 6? It's right after Jaime in rides in like a dick saying "Yo Ed I'm taking you downtown" and murders all his best men. Lately all I've been hearing people talk about is that...scene with Melisandre and the shadow thing. Not looking forward to it.

I'm also not looking forward to things involving Arya as a whole because she's forever on the run and being mostly helpless all the time. It's not that I don't like her character, but I've always thought her chapters were going to build up to something and they typically don't affect anything in the end. And in book 2 I just remember her chapters as constantly peeing and marching with her numerous captives. Snore.

There's a fuckton of ground covered in SOS and giving it two seasons is probably so they don't have to cut anything. It's the longest book, after all.

Which is going to make the 3 AFFC/ADWD seasons seem awful.

Also god I need to catch up on this damn show.

No exposed breasts and no cliffhanger ending this episode; Is this even Game of Thrones anymore? :v:

Other than that, Arya definitely had the best moment this episode in her confrontation with Tywin and but Brienne came close with her kicking everyone's ass and all. Also, I'm assuming the event that's going to piss off a lot of new fans that Contra was referring to earlier is Renly's death which was kinda stupid and literally came out of nowhere. Those shadow babies sure do grow up fast.
