Re: It's time again for the BronyCon commentary thread
Ohhhhh boy, am I sore from loading out all our gear and then the staff afterparty. But at least this year I planned ahead and brought caffeine to keep me going until at least 1 AM.
So we all know that next year's the last one. Sad, but I can't say I didn't see it coming. At least this way BC is concluding in grace instead of running wild with its money and leaving attendees and vendors holding the bag in the end. BC's parent corporation has no plans to dissolve, either, so it may very well make a new convention or revive BronyCon if the rumored G5 show comes out and is a smash hit.

I'm back home now. Post-con depression hasn't kicked in yet, but I'm not sure if that's because Blarghalt and Mr. Big have yet to head back west (thus making the con not quite yet feel over), or if maybe I'm in shock over the con actually ending, or what. At any rate, I know I'll sleep well tonight.

On a different note: how many of you saw a BC staff member dressed like a giant traffic cone? Because I actually drew something in that vein last month.
For context, some people in our Security department had been joking about having new hires or gophers recruited to their line control team be made to dress as a traffic cone in order to better direct attendees. I thought it was funny and drew this, featuring one Security staffer's OC and Blank Canvas as the cone. Needless to say, I was very surprised when I got to the con and found someone who brought that idea to life!

Would hit that cone with my door.
There was a link here, it's dead now and I'm sad.

So, after a 13-hour drive back from Johnson City, I'm home!
I'm super glad I went this year, even if I found out next year's pony convention will be the last. It was really cool meeting you all in person, and I even got some merch out of the experience.
Since it's all fresh on my mind, I might as well do a recap of some of the highlights. Spoilers, as to reveal the horror in chunks.
- Yes, I drove 2/3 of the way to Baltimore from Arkansas. Yes, I'm an idiot.
- Right after I picked up Mr. Big, we almost hit a deer!
- Met Aramek, exactly as I imagined him to be.
- I hung out in the fanfic room a lot. A nonzero amount of times, a person would ask if I had a fimfic account and then directly segue into how much horse porn they'd written
- Speaking of fanfics, I actually met the person in charge of the bad fanfic reading panel a few hours before she was due to start. We actually talked for a while, and I might have told her about certain fics that are infamous around here, such as TWILIGHT SPARKLE: SECRET BABY
- I also entered a fanfic contest, so we'll see how that goes.
- Got super smashed on Saturday.
- Shirtless Ice Cold Water Man. Truly, the Mr. Freeze of Bronycon.
- Got to eat around some really cool places in Baltimore. Aramek was dead set on photographing everyone's food before we'd actually dig in.
- How hot does it get in those full body pony suits? Also there was a lot of them.
- Spent most of the late nights watching horses with the rest of the gang, and having laughs. This was my favorite part of the con, honestly.

Never meet your heroes because we found out first-hand either last year or the year before that the Ice Cold Water guy is actually a jerk.
