I wonder how long it'll take the Leafs to remember they're from Toronto. :smug:

This was the first season in four years that the Predators didn't make it to the playoffs. Not only that, but we curled up and died back in the middle of February. Look at us, hanging around with bottom-feeders like the Hurricanes and the Avalanche:

MAF's goaltending performance in game 4 was one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. His SV% was .750

He's not starting tonight. Hopefully the Islanders will be able to defeat the Penguins anyway.

I have a question for all of you as an Oilers fan. Rebuilding eventually ends, right? RIGHT?! :gonkity:

If the rebuilding of another team I'm a fan of is any indication, I fully expect them to trade for half the players from the Panthers. :-/

I watched literally none of the regular season this year. Has Marty Brodeur had an amazing season or something, because hes a contender for being on the boxart of the new EA game

I don't follow NHL very closely, except play-offs, where I usually root for all teams that have Finnish players.

I follow quite closely Finnish national league and national team events. (Next year is Olympic year btw, I really hope that NHL players play in Sochi.)

OK, something that's been bugging me: why the "Leafs" and not "Leaves"?/totalgrammarnerd

Also, the only experience of live hockey I have is going to a game in Montreal between the Edmonton Oilers and the (surprise surprise) Montreal Canadians in, like, 1998. I remember it being pretty fun though.

It seems very possible that the only Canadian team left after round one will be the Senators. I also find it kind of funny that the team from the capital of Canada put down the team from the province that tried to secede from Canada. :smirk:

It's ok. We can start a pool over which team is going to get suckered into buying out Luongo's contract. :gotcha:

Also, as a western Canadian I was morally obliged to hope for the Sens/Habs game to end in mutual elimination. But I guess they don't allow for that. :-P

This is me whenever the Packers play the Lions in the NFL.

I definitely want the Ducks eliminated as soon as possible, but if the Red Wings come back and win, then they'd have to play the Hawks next round. Even though the Hawks swept the Red Wings in the regular season, they're still the Red Wings and I hate playing against them. :applejargh:

Oh yeah, what do you think about Detroit (and Columbus, but who cares about those guys) getting shoved off to the Eastern Conference next season? I know I'm gonna miss hating them. True story, whenever they would play down here a few years ago, almost half the crowd would be Red Wings fans since apparently it was cheaper for them to drive to Nashville and get tickets and a hotel room here than it was for them to buy tickets to their own home games.

The Leafs win game 5 and stave off elimination! And now no matter what we can say we lasted longer in the playoffs than those stinky Montreal Canadiens :smug:

I was seriously losing my mind in the 3rd period. I was shouting "yes!" and "no!" constantly, correlating directly to good or bad things happening for the Leafs on screen, no matter how small the event. Anyone else go through something like that?

Sort of...but I was mostly shouting "NO!" :flail:

Seriously, I'm the first person to admit this gives the Leafs big momentum going back to the ACC. The B's should have gotten the job done last night, and they didn't. :-/

From Wikipedia:

After taking control on Valentine's Day 1927, Smythe immediately renamed the team the Maple Leafs (the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team had won the International League championship a few months earlier and had been using that name for 30 years). The Maple Leafs say that the name was chosen in honour of the Maple Leaf Regiment from World War I. As the regiment is a proper noun, its plural is Maple Leafs (not Maple Leaves). Another story says that Smythe named the team after a team he had once scouted, called the East Toronto Maple Leafs, while Smythe's grandson stated that Conn named the team after the Maple Leaf insignia he had worn during the First World War.[9]

The being named after the Maple Leaf WWI regiment is definitely the most popular and most well-circulated story.

And the Leafs Win Game 6, clawing all the way back from being down 3-1 in the best-of-seven to tie it 3-3. Game Seven tomorrow night.

This is the best feeling! :awesomedash: :yay:  :ohboy:

BRING ON THE RED WINGS!

2, 3, and 4 seeds knocked out in the first round in the west. It's a huge relief that the Ducks are out. The Blackhawks were 0-3 against the Ducks in the regular season. The Hawks were 4-0 against the Red Wings in the regular season, including a 7-1 laugher on Easter Sunday.

I saw this cartoon when I was a kid and it's stuck with me ever since.

Also I don't root for my state's team, because that would be the Avalanche and they're not very good. Plus, I'm not from here anyway. But the local... I guess, minor league? team, the Colorado Eagles put on a decent show and I listen to their games on the radio sometimes. They're out for the season now, though, so I'm wondering who will end up with the Cup.
