There used to be a radio show and sitcom called "Amos & Andy", which was a misadventures of a trio of black stereotypes getting into get-rich schemes. By 1960s, however, with the growing civil rights movement the show was deemed racist and put off the air.
The producers, however, wasn't going to let little things like racism get in their way, so they decided to take old scripts, change the names, and animate the characters as talking animals. The result was "Calvin and the Colonel" and it was one of the first prime-time cartoons aimed at adults, airing on ABC in 1961-62 for one season with 26 episodes.
It got poor ratings, alas, and was cancelled.
Below is the final episode where the characters go on a road-trip to Nashville.

"Listen, girlie. Why don't you go someplace and GO BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT!!!"
"I'm sorry, I cannot do that. This is a recording"
