Re: Star Wars: They called the ninth Star Wars "Episode 8"
I like new Star War more than I have liked a Star War I think. I don't have that much affection for the original trilogy, the prequels are bad, and TFA and Rogue One have similar problems for me where I like the characters and some of the big plot beats and what they're trying to do but the thing as a whole just doesn't do much for me. I actually liked Last Jedi pretty well, I was engaged by the story and the themes, I cared about the character arcs, and it was too long but they did enough good stuff after I hit my fatigue point* that I'm okay with it. Kylo Ren's character arc continues to be the strongest thing in these movies and the dynamic between him and Rey works well. Finn's half of the plot is less impactful but I enjoyed some of the setpieces and twists along the way. I like Rose and I hope she gets to grow out of being a hetero love interest.
*The Luke/Kylo "fight" is great and I am pretty disappointed Luke isn't going to literally be around poking Kylo with a stick every fifteen minutes in Episode 9.

Luke achieved a new form that can be more annoying than anyone can imagine.Weird Autumn wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2017 12:14 pm*The Luke/Kylo "fight" is great and I am pretty disappointed Luke isn't going to literally be around poking Kylo with a stick every fifteen minutes in Episode 9.

Just came back from seeing it; good movie! Liked it a lot!
Liked that the main conflict was a slow chase, as someone else in the thread said, and I liked that the solution was running away and pissing off the Order instead of another infiltration and destruction exploit. I giggled a lot when Snoke got shanked and Rei's parents were nobodies that sold her out for some cheap coin, there go months of speculations Also I appreciate that the new face of the dark side is a dangerous but whiny brat that got beat by a cheap jedi parlour trick, haha
We'll miss Carrie Fisher thanks for the movies and spunk

Welp, Rebels is back for the final 8 episodes and those two episodes were damn fine.

Rebels is over now.
I really want to see the continued adventures of Sabine and Ahsoka.

Or we get a Hondo Onaka variety show... because the writers kept including him way too often for some reason.
I don't like this character and I don't want to see him again.
Instead of being charming with his slapsticky and arrogant behaviour he appears to me on the other side of the likability scale.

I didn’t watch TCW but I did watch Rebels, and wasn’t that the continuation, basically? Were there stories from TCW era that are still unresolved?

Re: Star Wars: They called the ninth Star Wars "Episode 8"
Kind of. They never got to finish production of TCW’s last season, so they released what they had as “The Lost Episodes.” Some scripts never made it through preproduction, let alone animation, iirc. There was also kind of a cliffhanger regarding Ahsoka, and it looks like this new version aims at least in part to cover that gap. I guess they want to connect TCW and Rebels a little more closely.
TCW is pretty good if you use an episode guide for the first couple of seasons and avoid the pilot movie. If you liked Rebels you should give it a shot. It used to all be up on Netflix but I’m not sure if it still is (I had to let my sub lapse ).

Re: Star Wars: They called the ninth Star Wars "Episode 8"
They made a half-final season, because cartoon network didn't want to pay for it. So netflix bought the rights for the final half season, while the other half were just recorded audio and animatics, which lucasfilm released a few years back, so they're finishing those and I guess doing a couple more episodes at the same time.
