Debrincat just tied the game up for the Hawks with less than a second remaining!

Patrick Laine dropped FIVE goals on the Blues
Only the tenth time since 1990 someone has scored 5 in a game.

I actually like this trade. Schmaltz was underperforming while surrounded by good players and Strome was underperforming while surrounded by bad players. Strome and Debrincat played on the same line in Erie, so there's already some cohesion there. Strome is also excellent and faceoffs, something only Toews on the Hawks is good at.

Tonight was a good night.
Apparently the Avs broke a long losing streak against the Predators I was unaware existed.

This is some of the dirtiest crap I have ever seen.
Red wings players literally grab his stick and hold him there DURING LIVE PLAY. No penalties.

Feel free to lord over others with the fact that technically, Seattle already has won the Stanley Cup once.

I'm all ready to trade in my Kings shit. They've got 2½ seasons to convince me otherwise. Let's see how that's going...

Since November 18, the Hawks have held a lead for a grand total of 41 seconds.

Crawford got another concussion after missing pretty much an entire year with one. He might be done for good.

Canada got eliminated from the World Juniors when a stick broke and Finland scored on the counter-attack in OT.

Tonight we set a team record for most hat tricks in a season, up to 5 so far, as part of a 6-1 thrashing of the Caps.
Oh, and it's only the end of the second period, with another potential hatty lined up.

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
Just got back from my first real hockey league evaluation. I was expecting it to be like Rat Hockey, where I'm one of the worst 5 guys on the ice, but I was solidly in the middle of the pack. I find out which team I'm on later in the week. I'm really looking forward to this league!

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
So my first ever league game went about as well as possible.
The biggest reason why we won was our defense, especially our captain, who was the best player on the ice for either team. We completely dominated possession for the whole game. Our goalie isn't very good, but it didn't matter because I would guess he only had to block like 8 shots the entire game. We won 5-1. Mine was goal number 3, our only goal in the 2nd period. I caught a pass from the point with my back to the goalie right in front of the net, did a quick turnaround backhand that found the 5-hole.
Next week's game is against the team full of ringers that apparently wins every year, but we crushed an above-average team tonight, so I'm feeling pretty good about our chances.

Hawks have miraculously won 5 in a row and are suddenly withing spitting range of a wild card spot. They dropped 5 on the Oilers in the 3rd period tonight.

Avs have lost 7 in a row.
They have only won 3 games since Christmas.
Such a great start to the season. This crash has been incredibly sad.

I'd like to take this moment to thank every other NHL team for not believing in 50-goal-OHL-scorer Alex Debrincat because he's "too small" and letting him fall to 39th in the draft, where the Blackhawks scooped him up.
He just got another hat trick tonight

That the Avs are even still in it after the last 3 months really showcases how bad the slump has been compared to the start of the season.

That's good ol' Krazy Kyle for you. He picked up a fair number of tunes from his kids playing Smash Bros., enough to where there's a pretty decent chance you'll hear him play the Wily's Castle song from Mega Man 2 during any given game. The Doctor wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 9:41 pmI think the Predators organist was just playing the Smash Brothers theme.

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
Turns out committing a lot of penalties and having a terrible defense in general is not a good way to win hockey games.
The sad thing is the Hawks actually looked better tonight than in most of the games they've won during the past month. The Hawks outshot the Avs by 13, but Varlamov has a history of owning the Blackhawks and that continued tonight.

John Tavares returns to Long Island tonight.
Immediate jeers when he steps on the ice. Plastic snakes were thrown on the ice.
I get it. And I'm a biased Leas fan and I know the case of Mats Sundin skipping town was different. But I think someone who was nothing but class with your organization who left for completely understandable reasons (nobody thought the Islanders would be good this season including fans) doesn't deserve that.
This also might be the most animated regular-season crowd I've ever seen.
