Tom Wilson and Ryan Reaves are both shitty goons who both had uncalled dirty hits. And they both somehow have goals tonight.

Wowwwww, that was an incredible hockey game. Really glad I don't have a rooting interest in either team, because that one was fun to watch.

Another incredible SCF game. This has been an amazing series so far. That save by Holtby near the end of the 3rd was one of the best I've ever seen.

It looks like it's not meant to be for Vegas. But they still did a heck of a job.

I hope tonight's game is entertaining. This has been a very boring playoff season. Little OT, few game 7s, and it seems like there have been a lot of lopsided final scores.

Vegas booed Bettman during the trophy presentation. They are truly an NHL city now.

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
When I went to bed partway through the third, I honestly thought the Golden Knights were going to stay alive. Seeing how this series went, I now can't help but wonder how the WCF would've gone had we not been so wildly inconsistent against the Jets. Oh well.
At BronyCon this year I'll have to keep an eye out for any significant increase in the number of Caps fans in Baltimore.

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
I had the prettiest goal of my life today. My teammate unleashed a slapper from the left side of the blue line and I just perfectly deflected it to the opposite side of the net from the goalie through traffic. I could've tried it a hundred times and not ever gotten it so textbook. It felt really good.

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
Little late on this, but: after four years with the Capitals, coaching them to the President's Trophy twice and then to their first ever Cup this year, what does Barry Trotz do? He leaves them.
From what I'm hearing, the Caps wouldn't give him a contract extension as big as he wanted, so now I guess he's looking for a cushy position with either the Islanders or possibly Seattle's forthcoming team. Regardless, somehow I get the feeling that things ain't gonna be nearly as pretty in Washington these next couple seasons.

Hawks need defense, so I'm very happy with Boqvist, who is probably the second best D in the draft behind Dahlin.

Why did I start learning to play hockey at age 34? I've got so many stupid nagging injuries now, one of which required 6 weeks of physical therapy.

Good for MAF, but that seems a bit expensive for someone in his age 35-37 years.

He's a big name and will thus at least be a marketing tool for the Golden Knights down the line. Their trip to the SCF put them in the spotlight, so now they're looking to stay there and build a real fanbase, and keeping at least a few guys from their inaugural team will help.

One of my best hockey buddies, who started learning around the same time I did, lost an edge and went feet-first into the boards, shattering his ankle. Doctor says he's gonna be out 3-6 months.

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
I felt like today was the best hockey game I've ever played, even better than my hat trick game. My defense is usually non-existent, but today I blocked a bunch of shots, intercepted some passes, and overall found myself in the right spot on the ice to make plays. It was capped off by the prettiest goal I've ever gotten, just a perfectly-placed one-timer in the top corner over the goalie's glove. I started off the season disappointingly bad, but the last two weeks have been great and now that I'm past the honeymoon stage of seeing noticeable gains every time I skate, this has been a very nice confidence boost.

How often and when does your beer league play? I'm glad to hear you're still having a good time with it, but I kind of assumed that adult recreational hockey would roughly follow the NHL's schedule, so I didn't think that'd be back on just yet.Octavia wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 1:19 pmI felt like today was the best hockey game I've ever played, even better than my hat trick game. (I nearly typed "bear league" which is maybe what it should be called in Boston )

Re: Hockey! NHL, KHL, AHL, and Every Other HL
I'm not in a league yet. I play Rat Hockey, which are pickup games where each person pays $10, teams are based on your jersey color, and we all play a game together. The rink offers it 3 times a week, but I usually only play 1 or 2 times weekly, in addition to free skate and lessons. Overall it's a much more chill atmosphere than a league, since skill levels are all over the place. I regularly play with/against a 2-time Wisconsin women's collegiate national champion, but then there are also newer players like myself. I think in the Spring I'll be joining a novice league out in the suburbs, designed for players with 2 years or less of experience.Fizzbuzz wrote: ↑Fri Sep 14, 2018 7:38 amHow often and when does your beer league play? Not really sure why a team in the same city as the Phillie Phanatic would even try to step up in the field of bizarre, hairy, vaguely muppet-like mascots. But okay, I guess.

Actually, you know what, I'll take that back on the condition that Gritty is played more as being wild, vaguely insane, and possibly dangerous. Like if he'd yell "FUCK THE PENS" during a moment of silence right before a playoff game.
