Netflix sucks (but adult swim is cool)

This is just IMO, but Netflix has been putting out better cartoons than CN, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel these days. Dragon Prince and Hilda are better than most of the content the big 3 have been churning out lately. Why do you think that is?

I love the new She-Ra

It's pretty gay.

Dragon Prince is also good.

I'm just hoping that Hasbro and WOTC are gonna make a Magic: the Gathering animated series on Netflix and aren't just filing the copyright for hell of it.

I think She-Ra is the new standard bearer for feminist cartoons. Put it alongside FIM and Steven Universe.

Anyone watched "Tuca and Bertie"? It just came out yesterday on Netflix.

I watched the first episode, and it turned out better than I expected. It's a VERY cartoonish, rather upbeat adult cartoon, something of a rarity. Which is surprising since it came from the same team that does "Bojack Horseman".

So far the first episode is pretty good, a lot more surreal than I expected.

Also watched the second season of She-Ra and it was even gayer than the first. Sucks it was only like 7 episodes.

Tuca & Bertie is like a train wreck I cannot look away.
It's like a strange combination of Regular Show and Bojack Horseman.
Somewhat compelling but also appalling at the same time.

Just watched episode 2 of "Tuca and Bertie". A bit more serious, with Bertie getting sexually harassed at work

Which resulted in one of her boobs literally popping out and going out for a drink, because it's that kind of show :-I

I watched the first episode of Tuca and Bertie... Then decided I couldn't watch any more without a assistance from legal-here goods. Then we marathoned the remaining episodes. I loved it, especially the background bird jokes.

I think I still like She-Ra more. Its only flaw is that the female villains are more interesting and likable than the main 'good' characters...

She's my fave. She's an amoral crackpot who is super nice, sounds a lot older, and has a Minnesota accent.

It was announced today that the Russo brothers are producing an animated MTG series for Netflix.

Personally, as long as I get Eldrazi and Jace and Vraska moments, I'll be game

I hope the show emulates the meta and half the episodes are just mono-red smorcing faces.

Also I just started watching Tuca and Bertie and it owns.

I finished Tuca and Bertie. I really enjoyed it and I appreciate them tackling some heavier subjects, but I hope it doesn't go the direction of Bojack and turn into a depress-fest. I want it to stay whimsical and off-the-wall.

Also finished it, and Speckle remains the best.

I just stumbled upon the CN series "Infinity Train".
A girl named "Tulip" who likes to program games and wanted to go to a game programming camp.
However she is stuck in a train with weird properties.

There is only one episode so far and it got me hooked.

Me too. The show was adored by critics, so it makes no sense.

I rather think that the casual watcher (what I presume is that it's the majority) didn't watch the series or turned it off very quickly.
The first episodes are very crass for the uninitiated viewer. I was not that keen on my first gut reaction. So I think that the majority didn't give it a big chance as people like us, who are more drawn to animated series and are more likely to suffer through initial bumps.

As much as I like Bojack Horseman, I liked Tuca and Bertie more. This blows.

They keep renewing all their really cheapo violent adult cartoons, though, so I doubt that was on Netflix' mind. It's more like, it was made by a woman with women in mind about women's topics AND it was adult. You gotta remember how often people still get all uppity about female comedians making the same level of crass jokes that their male pendants make, because the general reation is that penises are funny but boobs/especially vaginas are gross. It's frustrating because there is definitely a market for a show about women for women that is allowed to be actually thoughtful while ALSO being crass, but you tell that to the suits who see that Family Guy still runs.

Additionally to what I wrote above, the animation studio Tornante has recently voted to unionize. They make both BoJack and Tuca & Bertie. Hmmmm. :squintyjack:

BoJack is the proven cashcow, Tuca & Bertie the new kid on the block with way too much girl stuff mixed in, so from that angle it makes sense who to axe.

They gave Paradise PD a second season. The show where a police officer fucks a car, less than 5 minutes after a redneck vomits on a woman then urinates on her to rinse it off. Yes... that... another season.

Paradise PD is 1000 times worse than Family Guy. I tried to watch the first episode but it had no merit in my opinion.
I forgot what happened (thankfully) but all I know that it was atrocious and incomprehensible to a highly insulting degree to anyone's intelligence and dignity.

Maybe if Speckle fucked a car, we'd get another season of Tuca & Bertie.

I just hate the Family Guy knockoff styles. I know it's petty and it's not like I can draw, but they bother me.

(Directed at Paradise PD, not the bird show.)
