as an aside, i enjoy some of the weird old fps difficulty level names

it was mostly goofy, a bit fun but sometimes a little insulting. like wolfenstein's "can i play, daddy?" easy difficulty was kinda silly but it hasn't quite aged well these days. Though some like heretic's could be just more goofy than anything with this set:

I picked ITYTD because ammo pickups are worth double and if we're playing certain custom wads that changes things from "grueling" to "enjoyable" even if they didn't bother to have difficulty levels implemented.

This is also my opinion, and as a rule of thumb I generally go one before the hardest difficulty. I like a challenge.

I'd play the IWADs-- Ultimate Doom, Doom II, and at this point probably TNT/Plutonia-- on UV, but for most PWADs I stick to HNTR.
