I've at least heard of Vegas before; I'm not even sure which of these two products is the equivalent of Logic and Fruity Loops and which is something else all together, let alone whether they're equivalent enough to be worth anything.

Because it's practically a monopoly. They get around it by saying DirecTV is a competitor, but unless you want shit reception every time it's cloudy, it doesn't really count. Same goes for internet. AT&T is technically a competitor, but it's so much slower and less reliable than cable internet with Comcast.

Now that there are live TV streaming services, I'm hoping more people will switch over and force Comcast to lower their prices.

I'm reminded of Diamond Distribution in comic books. Diamond is a monopoly, with other comic book distributors bring bought out/gone out of business for numerous reasons, but they were able to get around it by saying that there are other book distributors (as in, the kind that distributes to regular book stores and not exclusively comic-focused). It's a big part of why the comic book business is in such a miserable state.

in a lot of places in Finland, there's absolutely no competition in the ISP or phone space, let alone TV. but thanks to the magic of regulation, they still can't fuck you over completely for the crime of not living in the inner city. not to mention forcing these asshole companies to invest in networking and telecom towers and making them share that space instead of every fucker having their own ugly eyesore

I mean at my parents house they have pitiful 24/1 internet via the old telecom lines because fuck you, you're not getting fiber and it costs like 45 euros a month, but that's still reasonable. if the ISP had it their way they'd probably tear down the lines and tell them to use 4G because it costs money to provide service to such a small municipality

What started as a silly project to recreate a level from BioShock as a Team Fortress 2 map has turned into an impromptu course in 3D modeling as I desperately try to create collision meshes for all the models from scratch because the program I used to import them can only find visible meshes and UV maps.

I am also learning a lot about how the Source engine handles phong shading, and getting a pretty good idea of how it differs from Unreal's approach, for better or for worse.

Also WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU HIDING YOUR VENDING MACHINES, BIOSHOCK. THIS IS NO LONGER FUNNY.
