Yeah I know, I know.
I'd feel less bad if it was something more practical like a CNC router, a car, a new PC, a 3D printer...
I'm strange when it comes to that kind of money spending.
I'm more used to buy used furniture like small shelves or office chairs off strangers for "an apple and an egg" (German for peanuts).

A kitchen is one of the most practical things out there IMO so spending a bunch on it is good if it ends up being a very nice kitchen

Sure it will be a nice kitchen. That's why it does cost that much but not as much as my dream kitchen that would have costed me 5000 Euro-Bucks for only the cupboards, shelves, drawers, work plate and sink The main difference in price made the handles, I wanted integrated handles but got proud handles instead, and for some reason the concrete look of the side panels and doors, but I opted to similar looking and way cheaper stone look. It almost third the price because of that.
Well... I'll cheap-out on the bedroom and the living room

I did something similar to this. A long time ago on every D&D session we ordered regularly at a pizza place and I analyzed the area/price ratio and multiplied it with a taste score (from 0 to 10, 5 true neutral) to determine the best pizza there. I don't know what was the best but the seafood pizza with anchovies was the worst. My stomach revolves whenever I think about it again.

Hoo boy I went down a rabbit hole this evening.
Knowing what a niche hobby tabletop RPGs already are, it's amazing how many competing systems there are floating around. It's a bit like when I first discovered how many different distributions of Linux there are. One would think there literally aren't enough nerds in existence to sustain all of it.

Always get the largest pizza. A 16" pizza has 78% more surface area than a 12" pizza and it's usually only a couple bucks more.Adiwan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 4:06 pmI did something similar to this. The pizza place we usually ordered from had usually a worse price/area ratio on larger pizzas than the middle sized ones.

Re: Garfield (Garbage) Dump Thread Episodie (?) A Nermal Dump
That's crazy
If we set a baseline of $10 for a 12" pizza, then to keep the same ratio of $/in^2, a 14" pizza would cost $13.61 and a 16" would cost $17.78. Even though the math lines up, paying $8 extra for a large compared to a small seems bonkers.

It's a testament to the artistic consistency of the Zelda games' creature designs that I was able to tell the Cheat was dressed as some kind of Zelda creature even though I've never seen a Korok before.

Re: Garfield (Garbage) Dump Thread Episodie (?) A Nermal Dump
The past few weeks we've been taking care of this sick cat that's been hanging outside our house for a couple of years. We had to keep him inside and quarantined from our other cats, so we opted to keep him inside the guest house we have on our property. I came in everyday to give him medicine, change the box, feed him, and generally keep him company (he's a VERY friendly cat).
Eventually he recovered from his sickness and we let him out. However, by then he's gotten used to being inside the house, so he would demand we let him in, especially when it gets cold or rainy.
TL;DR: We gave a house to a cat

Today I was with my company (more precisely my department) at https://dialog-in-hamburg.de/en/
It is a place where it is totally dark and you experience how blind people feel day to day in a safe environment, like crossing the road, shopping, going over a small bridge, ordering at a bar (at the end of the tour you can actually order something to drink and pay blindly).
It was an interesting experience for sure. Too bad our group was pretty large and we constantly bumped into each other and hit with canes.
It costs about 22€ for a 90 minute tour.
I heard a ton of blind jokes from the blind tour guide

This is my favorite short/toon they've done in a while. I don't know if this idea has been done in other media before, but the concept is super clever to me, and the way Homestar Runner builds upon it is so amusing.

I've been playing D&D for around 20 years now, and last night I'm pretty sure I had the best dice roll I've ever gotten in that time.
Rolled a longbow sneak attack with my level 9 rogue (d20): 20
Longbow damage (d8): 8
Sneak attack damage (5d6): 6 6 6 6 3
Double all that for the critical hit from rolling a natural 20 on the attack roll and add the +6 damage modifier = 76 damage

Our characters have fairly in-depth bios with character traits and flaws that we try to adhere to, but we don't go all-out with the RP aspect. The DM is the only one that uses different voices, since he's the only one that plays multiple characters. Everyone else just uses their own voice.Angry Critter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 15, 2018 8:08 pmShit

My D&D group has such a bad time finding time to play that we have played about 7 sessions this year, with a huge gap of 3 months.
All I want is to rescue my character's wife from a green dragon who holds her hostage because the dragon wants that I retrieve an ancient treasure for him. I'm in the debt of the dragon because he revived me.
Luckily we have a new session coming up this weekend

Agreed
If you follow Steve Stanchfield's posts on Cartoon Research, he's always looking all over for the best sources of rare and obscure cartoons so he can remaster them. Sometimes he finds them in film archives (including the Library of Congress), but he also finds them in unusual places at times as well.
