I almost felt kind of bad for the Juralian in that one, at least up until he resorted to taking a hostage.

Like, for all we knew those two Juralians were just trying to live day to day lives passing as ordinary humans, and then one of them dies in a freak accident and the other one ends up fleeing for his life while horribly injured because the humans assume he must be up to no good based purely on him being a Juralian, when it's entirely likely him and his buddy were just on their way to the gym or something.

But then he made the mistake of taking a little kid hostage, so he's clearly evil and deserved to die a horrible death.

Also, did we really need Juralians showing up and offering to assist the dude with his suicide?* This goes back to what I was talking about earlier where half the time these schemes make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Previous episode, we had two Juralians who wanted to get their hands on plans to help them attack and destroy humanity's space bases on Venus. That's actually a reasonable goal for a hostile alien race at war with humans to have! And they even went about it in a relatively subtle fashion, using a human pawn to do the dirty work of breaking into the safe for them.

But in the episode immediately after that, we get... like, what, five or six Juralians getting murdered by Ken because they showed up out of nowhere to help a dude kill himself because they just hate humans that much! It's baffling.

*The answer is yes, because we can't have a Chargeman Ken episode where he's not killing Juralians or mummies.

There's a pretty wild message buried in this episode about Japan being so completely consumed by this future '60s space age that it doesn't have a trace of Japanese culture at all. Most other future anime centered on Japan usually portray some sort of melding of the old and new, which I'd find more believable from a nation that takes such pride in its traditions.

On the other hand, I guess you have Akira, which, at least in the movie, lets the grungy '80s future Tokyo consume everything (and then explode).
