I was just wondering what would happen when pony goes to G5 in regards to Bronycon...

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
The fandom realized collectively that horses cannot in fact talk, use magic, build civilizations, or even actually comprehend the human concept of friendship and are burning down everything knowing the show was a lie all along.

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
During the time ponies has been around, and perhaps with some help from ponies itself, the landscape of our media has changed. Having a show that expresses female character types with diversity and with agency is no longer unheard of. Having a show that gets real about the importance of relationships and friendships is no longer unique to ponies. Steven Universe, Yuru Camp, even the occasional Disney movie and cartoon are coming out with their great girls and tales that value friendship over force. MLP is no longer that special surprise that emerged at the start of this decade. MLP is starting to sink into a new landscape where this kind of show is the norm, and in a way that's wonderful.

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
its one of the signs of the end times, to quote matthew 24:7:
for nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in various places, and also bronycon will end.

INB4 anyone else: The last bronycon will be closed with the four horsemen of the apocalypse running through the hallways and halls.

There will probably be a panel or meetup at furry cons for a while, but yeah, the convention audience just isn't there to sustain the expenses for the venue.
Surprised they didn't try a smaller venue first before going to closure?

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
It's honestly quite amazing that a single TV show could hold enough of an audience to have huge conventions for nearly 10 years. The only other show I can think of that did this is Star Trek, and nowadays Star Trek con stuff is just mixed in with other general nerd cons.
It had a great run, but it's fine that it's ending, as all good things must.

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
Seriously. For comparison I looked for a list of furry cons sorted by attendance, and all but the two biggest ones had lower attendance this past year than BronyCon. And that fandom is growing. I suspect that shrinking attendance isn't BronyCon's reason for shutting down; it's their excuse. The people in charge have fallen out of love with the franchise, and rather than hand it over to someone else they've chosen to take the ship down with them. It happens.

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
They've been playing the long con all along. Next year attendance's gonna be huge because it's the last one, so they'll issue Bronycon Bits (just like cash but funner) and run away with all the cash.

Re: Why is Bronycon Ending
It is shame it is coming to an end without getting the chance to ever attend one...
If I had a bit for every time you made me feel worthless I'd be worth something by now.
