Chrome users, make sure you’ve got the very latest version.
Or, as Justin Schuh, one of Chrome’s well-known security researchers, put it:
[L]ike, seriously, update your Chrome installs… like right this minute.
We’re not big Chrome fans – we’ve always thought that Firefox is better in both form and function, to be honest – but we have Chrome installed at the moment and can tell you that the version you want is 72.0.3626.121, released at the start of March 2019.

Re: UPDATE YOUR BROWSER!
I would've also posted an Opera download link, but since Opera is now based on the same rendering engine as Chrome, there's a very real chance it shares this same vulnerability.Perrydotto wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 7:59 pmbut instead had plenty others over the years, like any browser, don't be a browser snob :U
Then there's Safari and Edge, but those come with your computer, and Microsoft is also hitching Edge to Chrome's engine now or in an upcoming version.
Uh, I guess there's also Vivaldi, but I know almost nothing about it.

Doesn't it automatically update? I can't tell if it's the latest version or not on my computer.

Enter the URL chrome://settings/help or do what OFS suggested in order to check for updates. Enter the URL chrome://dino to play that game that pisses off school administrators.

Re: UPDATE YOUR BROWSER!
It says it's the latest version, and it's up to date, but it doesn't say if it has the patch. Would it, or can I just assume it does? Sorry I'm so bad with computers

Re: UPDATE YOUR BROWSER!
If it's up-to-date then it's on version 72.0.3626.121 and thus patched.
You're ok.

Re: UPDATE YOUR BROWSER!
On the subject of browsers and updates, I've noticed that Task Manager reports "very high" power usage when I play YouTube videos as of late, accompanied by lots of heat from the box. I'm pretty sure this is caused by the new AV1 video format that Firefox just added support for, which saves a tiny amount of bandwidth over WebM or MPEG but at the expense of a very CPU-hungry decoder. I have no desperate need to shave a sliver off my Internet usage, so I went into about:config and switched it off. Some of you might want to consider doing likewise.
