That's nothing! Back in 2013 Hasbro made a movie where they looked like grossly mutated humans with giant heads, giant legs, tiny arms, and entirely unnatural skin colors.

The movie was the only adventure-style MLP story that I’ve liked in the entire run of G4 other than Canterlot Wedding

I've seen every EQG movie except the first and they were fun. I don't regret watching them.

- Friendship Games had some cool stuff and new Twi is a cool take that helps fill the void of losing unwinged horse-Twi. Hot take, the girls demonstrated their elements more effectively and interestingly than they did in the very first episodes of the show in 2011, especially AJ, because that shit never made sense back in the day.

- Camp Everfree was nothing special until the ending, which was fucking sick. The new costumes were wild and the villain transformation ruled. That's the first time I've liked the "evil druid" thing. Note: Gloriosa Did Nothing Wrong. In fact I'm putting that in my sig. I'm saying good things about Camp Everfree, but ultimately the movie's ending is a bourgeois defense of working within a fundamentally broken system to temporarily defeat the symptom of deeper problems when in fact only true revolution will (1/46)

- I know there are people who hate Wallflower, but I've got wicked mood disorders and I really sympathized with her. Forgotten Friendship is good shit. That bit at the end where she offhandedly mentions erasing every "bad" interaction with others until no one remembers her is something that really hits me.

The offical MLP ponies movie was fine. Did people not enjoy it or something? The art whipped ass but it kind of had to carry the movie for me, because it just felt like they were moving from setpiece to setpiece without much agency. Cool villain song, I guess? With a cool villain. I really need to get ahold of the comics where Fizzlepop Berrytwist shows up.

To paraphrase my post at the time, it was on par with an average-to-decent episode of the show, and some parts of it were great. However, cramming too many cameos into the middle threw off the pacing, and the character designs were all over the place, from quasi-G3 ponies to Don Bluth villains to... whatever Capper was supposed to be. Tempest was way better than I expected from an edgy OC, largely because of her excellent performance, while the Storm King was... present. Sort of. The message was good for Tempest and merely okay for the M6. If they'd released it after season 2 or 3, it would've been a huge hit.

It's basically the first EqG movie, where setting everything up took too long, and if they did another, they'd probably knock it out of the park. But it's too late for that.

You know, I think I remember you writing that before. I'm surprised I was still around for that.

I swear to god there's a draft of the script where Celestia was trying to say "hippocampi" instead of "hippogriffs" and then Hasbro told them they also wanted to sell hippogriff toys, not just sea ponies.

btw, anyone else notice the sea pony queen is Bismuth from Steven Universe? She lights that "you don't deserve to be one of us" line on fire.
