It’s a weird feeling to get Proustian flashbacks from a Honey Comb jingle that you’d entirely forgotten until the first few notes played :-I

you know what you must now do: make it your mission to find a scratchy VHS copy somewhere and put it on the internet yourself

Based on a quick Google search, it looks like hepatitis awareness rap videos are a very common school project.

Back in the early 90s there was a Hep B immunization campaign in our schools, and the masterminds behind it decided that the best way to get kids on board was to make them watch bland PSA rappers rappin' about how "HEPATITIS B IS A REAL BAD RAP" like every other line. The production values were about what you'd expect, and the reception from a bunch of rowdy middle schoolers was also what you'd expect.

I'm not sure how widespread the video was but pretty much any time Hep B is mentioned around local folks my age, somebody will inevitably chime in with that line. So I guess in that respect it was kinda effective.

Little known fact: The makers of Don't Copy That Floppy recognized that the relationship between manufacturers and consumers needed to be a two-way street, and hence planned a second, follow-up video aiming at getting publishers to adopt more consumer-friendly sales models.

Unfortunately, "Holy Shit, Just Let Them Download That Shit Straight Into Their Homes For The, Like, $2.49 It's Actually Worth Buying At" was considered to be too long and not catchy enough a tagline, and before it could be revised further, the product was canceled. And thus it was another decade and a half before we got Steam as we know it today.
