Not gonna lie, if they play a full version of the original theme song they used for the second trailer I'll probably cry.

Movie was good, mostly I'm hoping it just makes enough money to justify making a dozen, potentially better Pokemon movies.

Also getting to see the Sonic trailer in all its... "Glory" on a huge screen is a unique experience.

Speaking of trading cards seeing the trading card collection in the room Tim's dad made for him was pretty cool because I'm pretty aire those we're just legit card from the game

It was a fun movie.

I was let down that all the music from the trailers wasn't in the movie. I thought they were going to Guardians of the Galaxy the Pokemon world.

One cinema chain over here was offering cards on the Saturday showing, but it was also significantly more expensive than a competing cinema

perhaps i could have made that up with ebay, but I think these were just two booster packs that you could probably get with the case files

With regards to that, I liked that the movie was very explicit that this was the Mewtwo, not a new one they made. They even stated that it escaped from Kanto twenty years ago, which is when The First Movie came out.

Yeah that was a really cool bit

i saw it yesterday with my mother! it's good! we missed the first 20 minutes or so (came in just as tim was first meeting pikachu, didn't seem to miss anything too important) bc i forgot to grab my wallet and she came up just a few dollars short

i only kind of wish they addressed what happens to the pokemon's own consciousness when mewtwo "fuses" them

One thing I kinda wish we got to see was that scene of Tim at his job in the call center that popped up in a few trailers. Not only would it solidify Tim's millennial existential crisis, but I think it'd make for some good jokes about insurance for the damage pokemon could cause.

It was a surprisingly good movie, and apparently they greenlit a sequel before this came out.

The movie was a lot of fun! Also consider that this is the closest reference many people growing up right now will have for Film Noir. It's kinda neat!

I was genuinely impressed that the Mr. Mime scene was even funnier than what was shown in the trailer. The folks cutting the trailers did a good job.

Just saw this movie and I really liked it! Definitely best if you really dig Pokemon because the fanservice is super well done

The human characters were so-so, didn't like that the female lead was basically a Manic Pixie Dream Girl and nothing else, but it's a fun romp with family-friendly Deadpoolchu and lots of great immersion in a world with mons

my standards for both romance in movies and videogame movies are also so low that the movie doing better than average on those two fronts already pleased me, it's sad!

big spoiler: the dude and the girl don't actually kiss or date in the end, they're just attracted to each other without much leadup

again, that's better than average which stinks but it helped because I was there for the mons and the human characters not detracting from that was good

I was impressed by how entertaining Bill Nighy can be when he clearly gives as few fucks as possible about a role.

Just got back from seeing it. Super adorable and I really just got lost in the city, trying to identify every Pokemon I could. I love the world they created.
