Giants show up in all five colors, but are mostly red and white. I'd suggest Ruhan as a commander because he doesn't suck.

I am actively insulted you would present me with a spellshaper besides Jaya or Waterfront Bouncer.

I consider "Rocko's Modern Life" to be the best show Nickelodeon ever had.

I've never seen any of the Shrek movies after the first one.

I honestly don't care for Pixar movies that much, with few exceptions. Overrated imo

I’ve never watched that much Spongebob and I much preferred Powerpuff Girls to it because people would not shut up about how great Spongebob was. It took me years to not have a goony knee jerk hatred of Spongebob and to be able to appreciate that it is, in fact, a good cartoon

I'm ashamed to admit that I kinda hesitated to watch Powerpuff Girls because it looked GIRLY, not realizing it was parodying that kind of content (I usually watched it when nobody was around). And even then, it took me until Ponies to realize that "girly" stuff isn't inherently inferior

Re: My Secret Confession Thread
Sometimes I think writers love worldbuilding too much. It's a nice window dressing to a story, but then there are those who take it too far and add additional details that, frankly, are just not needed to make the story good.
I always felt characters should come first, since that's the most interesting part of a story IMO. Make the characters shape the world in your story.

We can start with the character or the species, but you will know more about how they poop than you ever cared to.Mr. Big wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 1:09 amSometimes I think writers love worldbuilding too much. Having worked in science for the past three years, I'm saddened with what the field seems to have devolved into or maybe has been the whole time and I didn't realize it. The majority of my peers didn't care for teamwork or actually making real discoveries. The priority for everyone is shoveling out as much garbage as possible to publish to keep funding afloat no matter what. In the majority of papers I read, interpetations of data tended to make extreme reaches just to say they have a unique, interesting result worth publishing in the end and very often I'd find diametrically opposed interpretations or published data about certain materials.

Re: My Secret Confession Thread
Sometimes I feel that one of the main failings with webcomics is that, in addition to not all artists (even the most talented) being actually being good at writing, they never stop to consider that writing IS the most important part.
Not that you should half-ass the art. You should try to strive to be a good artist, but it's not the end-all (otherwise XKCD wouldn't be popular). Perfection IS the enemy, as they say. And, of course, one thing to consider with professionally produced comic with gorgeous art is that many of them have assistants helping out, which makes a huge difference.
While I'm at it, I think readers underestimate just how time-consuming creating comics is, especially if you have a weekly/daily deadline. I'll admit I became less harsh on the quality of comics after experiencing first-hand how stressful maintaining a strict schedule can be. Of course, genuinely half-assing and such are not excusable, but I still think people need to consider the effort that goes into it more often.

I've never finished reading "The Hobbit." In 38 years, I've attempted it 3 times, and 3 times, I've bounced off it because I just can't get into it.

Re: My Secret Confession Thread
Oh god, I agree so much. I think most writing advice for people who are writing genre fiction comes from people who are cargo-culting Tolkien through several generations of blurry photocopies. The same thing goes for plot, too. I don’t want to sit there and agonize over creating the twistiest plot imaginable, but it seems to be what modern audiences expect. I care about characters more than plot. Simple, straightforward plots are fine because they give your cast breathing room to develop and grow and be more interesting.Mr. Big wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 1:09 amSometimes I think writers love worldbuilding too much. Related: I’m ashamed to say this, but I am deeply envious of anyone who can draw. Nobody reads or gives a shit about reading, especially in the US, but people still like to look at drawings. I wish I had the talent to do anything other than write.
