special standouts for me include Crazy, Classic, Life and Screwed and PYNK and Americans (fair warning that while none of it is terribly explicit there might be a few naughty words in there. and the video for PYNK is so suggestive that if it were a person it would be waggling its eyebrows and winking and elbowing you in the ribs)
I'd personally pick "Make Me Feel" as the standout (alongside "Screwed"). "Make Me Feel" will most certainly please fans of Prince (though it still feels uniquely Monae).
I'm currently obsessed with the new Jack Ladder & the Dreamlanders record. His voice bears a shocking similarity to Nick Cave's.

As a person who likes Prince's music, can confirm that "Make Me Feel" made me happy.

Renard can be kind of hit-and-miss even if you're a fan of speedcore and experimental noise like he does. Ignorant to the Void starts off kind of bland and has a few eclectic movements, but the payoff at the end (5:30+) is so superb that I can't stop listening to the whole thing
In my opinion, this might be their best song ever. I don't even care that it basically rips off two of the songs from their debut album; it rules.

This song has been on my mind a lot.
I'm a bright, white egg and I incubate
In a warm, yellow light in the winter
And I'll hatch on a snow-covered morning
And no one will be awake to see it happen
There is no history, there's no expectation
Just warm, yellow light on my skin
And I'm blessed by my mother, though I'll never know her
And I'll never be lonesome again
Laura Stevenson wrote:L-DOPA was a medicine they used for people who had encephalitis lethargic. My grandfather’s mother died of encephalitis in the teens in New York, and so she was never able to give him what he needed in terms of nourishing him as a musician, because she wasn’t there. So it was kind of a parallel to my relationship with my mom at the beginning of this whole thing.
I'm a bright entertainer in a silent theater
I wearily quarry into
And my mother she stands where the characters dance
From the light at the height of the room
And every night I repeat the phrases
Just to see if she predicts the changes
And I'd die for a word if it's all she'd afford
But she closes up knowing it
Wikipedia wrote:The disease attacks the brain, leaving some victims in a statue-like condition, speechless and motionless. Between 1915 and 1926, an epidemic of encephalitis lethargica spread around the world. Nearly five million people were affected, a third of whom died in the acute stages.
Where I am
Is right at the beginning of it
All I know, I was born with
Where she is
She is fixed in a prison so fast, she is frozen
The air she breathes is a slow wind
Oliver Sacks wrote:They would be conscious and aware – yet not fully awake; they would sit motionless and speechless all day in their chairs, totally lacking energy, impetus, initiative, motive, appetite, affect or desire; they registered what went on about them without active attention, and with profound indifference. They neither conveyed nor felt the feeling of life; they were as insubstantial as ghosts, and as passive as zombies.
I'm a tired arachnid, spinning loose in my threads
Building lifetimes of gossamer beds
And the filigree water drops around my head
They absorb every word that I said
There are no wings hitched to my spine
Just an undying urge to climb
And I'll wait for my mother, supposing she'd bother
To hold me and keep me a while
To hold me and keep me a while

Steam convinced me to play Castle Crashers last week for their Spring Cleaning event (for which I stopped getting items after the first day for some reason), and now I have this track stuck in my head:

Enjoying this an awful lot right now. The instrumentation is just super pretty and even a bit melancholic.

Meute: This is a marching band which makes polished recordings of its covers of electronic music.
It reminds me of Too Many Zooz in how it uses wind instruments in adherence to the conventions of what would normally be techno or dance music. Meute is much more chill in its mood than the aggressive Zooz. I love it.
TSHEGUE - Muanapoto. What to call this sound. It's like Jungle went all French Electro.

I fell deep into the Youtube vocaloid jpop hole
My impression is that a vampire is saying "it's totally bolognese sauce, yes. It's bolognese ." Either way I love the pepper slices in her hair.

Bolognese? Neapolitan? close enough
Okay the plot thickens on this one. I left my youtube on Autoplay and naturally it starts dragging me deeper into the vocaloid hole, when suddenly I hear a word I've heard before.
Naporitan.
Their designs are near identical, with one appearing to be a vampire version of the other. These videos were released on the same date. What's going on? Is this a mascot for spaghetti? Have I been grooving to advertising jingles?
in short yes her name is Napoli-tan and she was designed to sell spaghetti products. The songs were made as part of a contest to decide her theme song. I have no idea what they went for but I like the vampire one best.
