Somebody was talking about peacocks earlier tonight and I fell in love with the idea of making a colorful trans peacock girl who's a cool tough punk girl with a soft side to match my sona's cute sweet soft girl with a punk side

Would she roll with her obviously male tail feathers, pluck/electrolyse them out completely, or cut them short into a cute style?Weird Autumn wrote: βMon Aug 20, 2018 8:22 pmSomebody was talking about peacocks earlier tonight and I fell in love with the idea of making a colorful trans peacock girl who's a cool tough punk girl with a soft side to match my sona's cute sweet soft girl with a punk side

I could see her wearing them short in a cute punky style but the thing for me was always that she'd wear them proud and be fabulous and super pretty.West Filly wrote: βThu Aug 30, 2018 7:16 pmWould she roll with her obviously male tail feathers, pluck/electrolyse them out completely, or cut them short into a cute style?

Re: πΊπ½ furry thread 2: reminder the correct pronunciation of gif is "yiff"
If she chose to get HRT, would that affect her tail and general overall coloration?
I'd guess yes, considering the sex-determination system of birds (short version: male birds have two Z chromosomes and female birds have a Z and a W chromosome), so the genes coding for a peacock's tail feathers are either autosomal or present on the Z chromosome, and would need a means of activation other than just having the genes present in the first place. I'm really not an expert on genetics, though, and in fact I don't know if the peafowl genome has even been mapped.

ITT I realize that the medical state of a hypothetical furry world would be a complete mess, considering how it'd be populated by so many animal-people who share little more than a common body type.

I just like her being a cute punk girl with a very flashy obvious signifier of trans-ness that makes her colorful and pretty

Presumably once she molts after starting hrt her feathers would start growing back more plainly colored but I reserve the right to pick and choose the aspects of biology that best fit my fictional bird person's character.

Re: πΊπ½ furry thread 2: reminder the correct pronunciation of gif is "yiff"
I don't know if the feathers would be reversible. From an evolutionary standpoint feathers are equivalent to hairs in some aspects, so I'd have it be like male body hair: Testosterone will give you the plumage, but HRT won't take it away. Hence the other feature I'd have as an option in this conworld: you can do electrolysis on feather follicles if you want to.
Ultimately if we're building a conworld, it's one where trans people are probably accepted to the point of not needing to worry about their safety, except that the existence of punks does imply some form of political strife to justify the aesthetic.

Peacocks shed their feathers at the end of the mating season and regrow them over the months until the next mating period, so presumably estrogen wouldn't impact the feathers she already has but would change how the next set grows in after molting.

Again, though, I'm calling artistic license on this one. Let trans peahens be pretty

I went to Mephit Fur Meet this weekend. Took a bunch a pictures.

I developed a fleeting crush on a fursuiter.
Also I went roller skating, and found out I'm not good at it.

I crashed the one time I tried roller skating, I can't imagine doing such a thing in a fursuit.

What if legit cartoony anthros started mingling with the fursuiters and you just don't notice because your brain is trying to rationalise it using only what you believe to be physically possible?

be my guest only if you like of course!!
I'm already very flattered folks like her so much though the design credit mostly goes to Guild Wars for having the parts I assembled her from, I just put them all together and gave them colors I like
