I wonder if there’s a word for that feeling you get when you go into a place where everyone is having fun and try to join in and suddenly everyone is dead quiet and leaves
other than shame, fear, and rejection, I mean

Also your brain is trying to sabotage you and tell you nonsense about people's social interactions and ascribes completely harmless processes as some kind of fault on your part, which is total cognitive distortion trash and not reality

a typical case for example is "I'm in a group chat, people were talking about something and I said something and then the conversation stopped, clearly I killed the conversation and it's entirely on me"
the way more likely, realistic scenario is "I'm in a group chat, people were talking about something and I said something and then the conversation stopped because it just naturally ran its course and people aren't constantly looking at their screens or responding to chat due to the inherently less direct nature of text chats"
brains are jerks and like blaming us for completely normal stuff we had no hand in

Researching book printers is an educational experience.
I already knew this, but they all make it clear that you're legally required to disclose on the product where it was printed. If I were to get it printed in China, for example, I would have to put "Printed in China" somewhere in the book.
Not only that, they have to be written so that it's legible as deemed by the law. 12pt font is the commonly accepted minimum size.

We saw Mayor Mare officiate their wedding and pronounce them jack and jenny. Maybe she's savvy enough to avoid that sort of phrasing?Mechanical Ape wrote: ↑Tue Dec 11, 2018 11:50 amI like to think at Cranky and Matilda’s wedding the priest said “You may now kiss the ass”

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
One thing about dealing with printers over the years is that you learn all sorts of printing terminology that an average person would never think of.
For example, what we think of paperback books, they're known as "perfect bound" in the printing facilities. Hardcovers are "case bound", and magazines with staples are "saddle stitch".
Then you get asked if a page is 4/4 or 4/0. Former means four colors on one side of the page (or cover), and four colors on another side. The latter means four colors on one side, blank on another.
Other common formats are 4/1 (four colors one side, 1 color [usually but not always black] on another), or 1/1 (one color on both sides).
Who knew printing books is complicated!?

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
My mom was a graphic designer before she retired, so I learned a few things about the world of print from her, particularly in the realm of advertising.
You mention color, for example. The process colors are cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, and if you've ever looked at those expensive-ass ink cartridges in your printer, you'll know that's what you use. But for big print runs, if for example you're a corporation that is printing a bunch of stuff with your logo and your company's specific colors on it, it might be worthwhile to get what's called spot colors. Those are custom-mixed colors that, instead of relying on your printer to spray and layer the process colors in the right amount, are damn near exactly the color you need and will always be that color instead of just a simulation as viewed by the human eye.
Let's suppose I were using my ponysona's colors in something. That gray is B5B5BE in the hexadecimal RGB color space, but in the print world if I want to get fancy then I would need to get that standardized to an ink color that's available. Looking it up, I find the closest match is Pantone 14-4202 TPG Harbor Mist, so I'd take the RGB values from there, recolor what I'm making based on that, and rinse and repeat with the blues and greens and such. Spot color is expensive, but if I wanted to make just the right impression with just the right color, it could be worth the cost.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
Boxes full of (comic) books are heavy. As if I was lifting a wood log.
Seriously, I'm moving and I wanted to carry two comic short boxes (about 38cm, 1.2ft long) and by accident both were filled to the brim with trade paperbacks. They are a lot more denser than the same fill with only floppies (with a cardboard backing board).
My arms are feeling like rubber hoses.

On the subject of Christmas songs, I wonder how many people besides everyone I know refer to "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as just "Mariah Carey".
Funnily enough, the song by Alvin and the Chipmunks really is just titled "The Chipmunk Song". I wonder how many of the people who call it that even know.

I will refer to that song by name because it's a beautiful and sorely needed anti-consumerist message and it deserves more respect than what it gets.

I have the same problem, except many of the same memories are also tied to my PTSD triggers, so it’s a fun combination of mortification and reliving the event emotionally until the ensuing panic attack makes me shut down
Just the embarrassment part is bad enough that I wouldn’t wish it on many people
