Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
I had an idea at work today, but I think it's so obvious that it has probably already been done.
A young adult woman of the modern age sets out on her life's mission. It's her dream, her goal, and probably her fetish: to be vored by a wolf. She talks online to a wolf who's totally down, and they meet at a cafe where they get along with each other. After a lot of joking and conversations about a wide range of topics, they finally get round to the point of arranging the details. She'll go to the woods on a set route at a set time and, as they had agreed, there'll be no holds barred.
"Tear me apart" are her exact words.
She's walking down the forest path, feeling incredibly excited to live out her final moments in the way she had pictured for so long. Her excitement builds as a dark shadow encroaches behind her. Little does she know, it is in fact her grandmother. She has come to lecture her granddaughter on stranger danger and moral decency.
When the young lady finally detaches herself from her grandmother's conversational snare, she heads off toward the meeting point while her grandmother takes a shortcut. The elderly woman wields an axe, muttering something about how things were done in her day.
I'm still working out exactly how it plays out but I think anyone with a cursory knowledge of English fairy tales knows what I'm going for.

You see, there's a very important lesson you need to learn from all of this. If your grandma hadn't stepped in here, you could have been eaten! But now you can live your whole life, work hard in a factory job, find a man and then raise a family just like God intended.

If we're going the line of the real story, it'll start off as a hard vore but then somewhere along the line it'll spawn an alternate version that downgrades the action to a completely harmless soft vore.
Yeah spoiler alert granny doesn't make it out alive in the original.

There's something about conflating the big death with the little death that I actually find incredibly distressing in a way I can't quite describe.Gloomy Rube wrote: βFri Jun 15, 2018 3:42 pmimo glorifying murder is bad, even if it's sexy, consensual murder

"The little death" is a euphemism for orgasm for some reason.

i get the impression 'the temptation of suicide' was the wolves' allegorical role in this parable, rather than how sexy murder is. although anything taboo and forbidden tends to get tied up with sex, and ain't nothing more taboo and forbidden than murder.
give it another pass and it can be disturbing in an entirely different (but hopefully less thermian problematic) way. drop the vore angle and make the allegory a little more blatant if that was what you were going for.

Nah these kids stories weren't deep allegories like that. They were meant to show you that there are bad people out there who can kill you, so that your kids are scared to heck and watch their own backs. This is particularly the case in the original versions of these tales, where the children usually get eaten. Little Red... is basically babby's first introduction to deception. The Ghost of Ember wrote: βFri Jun 15, 2018 9:26 pmi get the impression 'the temptation of suicide' was the wolves' allegorical role in this parable, rather than how sexy murder is. although anything taboo and forbidden tends to get tied up with sex, and ain't nothing more taboo and forbidden than murder.

My life is going really well and for the first time in a while I feel like I have purpose. But then why am I so angry and sad?
Because of depression and since other people still have it better, probably.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
Bit of a long winded random thought. The short version is that working in industry allows you to see just how huge society is.
The long version...
I now work in a plastics factory that
-turns plastic pellets into a thin film (extrusion)
-prints pictures and stuff on that film (printing)
-cuts, folds and sticks the film together to make products such as plastic bags (slitting, conversion)
I am an assistant to a printer. We work on a machine that prints about 100 kilometers of plastic film in a single 12 hour shift. The factory operates 24/7, and has three such machines. We're one of 13 such facilities in the local area, and we're one of the smaller facilities. Most of these facilities will have 7 or 8 of these machines. It's then a conservative estimate to say that this county alone could be outputting 13,000 kilometers of plastic film each day. If true that would mean in just over 3 days this county could circle the globe in printed plastic film.
All of it is getting turned into lids for sealed food packaging or plastic bags, that kind of thing. All of it is going straight in the bin when it is used.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
I once worked for a company that produced rubber & polyurethane rollers. For industrial presses, printing presses, that sort of thing. We made rollers to any size, hardness or specification. That was all we did, rollers. It was a multimillion dollar company and our owners and top salesmen were rich as sin.
One time I did booth duty at an industry convention. They had a rubber roller industry convention.
What I realized was that the economy is so big, society is so big, you can focus on some insignificant and unsexy piece of the great and complex machine that is industry, and there are still billions to be made if youβre a reasonably-sized fish in that pond.
Go out into our modern world and find some tiny manufactured object. Right now, somebody is making a very good living making and selling that shit. Not the poor schlubs on the assembly lines, of course, but somebody.

I wonder if there are people who'd never heard of dandelions until they read about them on the Internet, so they think it's pronounced "dan-DEELY-un".
EDIT: Or "dan-DELLY-un," I guess.

I wonder if, within another generation, "photo" is just going to mean "picture of any kind", because of how many websites and apps treat it as if it meant that.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
I took a nap and had a dream. In it I was in a place, looking at a large representation of the area as models on a molded topographic map, and I was speaking to some other people about how different this place was before. Like 'look at that yellow-looking castle thing, that was an old home that was in terrible shape and ugly as hell, but it got torn down; it used to be in that kind of archway entrance, yeah that one'. Along those lines.
I had this overwhelming sense of familiarity with this location, like I'd been there for years and knew all about how it is now and was before. Then I wake up, and have this fuzzing out as that location sifts out of my mind and my room comes in. Why do our dreams fill us with such an incredible, comfortable feeling of *knowing* for a location we've never been to? And this is only one of them that I've had in multiple dreams, one is a multi-leveled brick and foliage school complex, another a wide white plastic futuristic muti-level mall built in an O-shape, with the central area taken up by a massive tree spreading branches over all the layers.
Is there someone out somewhere dreaming about living in a foresty house with horses and cats, or seeing the tall hills and windy rivers in a small university town?

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
I think I may have stumbled onto the ideal formula for a Let's Play series: There are always at least two hosts, the player (who has no prior experience with the game) and the co-pilot (who has played through it already). This way you get the benefits of a blind playthrough, minus the frustration of watching someone be stuck for a long time or miss something important because the co-pilot is there to help if necessary. Plus they can offer the occasional piece of trivia or commentary that only a veteran can provide. And unlike a Twitch chat, they aren't going to spoil anything.
