Eh, that trend gave us Tiny Toons, so all is forgiven.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
I kinda wonder if "Tiny Toons" counts as a spinoff baby, because technically they didn't age-down Bugs Bunny and other LT characters, instead introducing new characters that were based on their traits. Bugs and co. appeared as their usual selves in several episodes.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
It occurred to me that they did the opposite of this with "Rugrats", where its spinoff featured the main characters as teenagers.

I don't know if there are a lot of people out there who just eat a bunch of marshmallows for dessert sometimes, or if full-sized marshmallows are bought almost exclusively for roasting and s'morifying.

My sister sometimes buys a bag of marshmallows just to munch on, but it's always the little ones. And she never gets through a bag before they become tiny stale blocks of calcified sugar so I dunno.
She also sometimes buys sliced pepperoni and dips them in ranch dressing as a snack so I REALLY dunno.

I've been trying to work out/find an art style for drawing people that I like and can take inspiration from, but I don't really have much to look at. I never read superhero comics, I don't want to do an anime style like I used to watch, and I haven't found an online comic that really speaks to me. I was drawing idly last night and it struck me that the face I was drawing looked a lot like Modesty Blaise, since I read those all the time in the BSS newspaper comic thread.

Pompeii scares the heck out of me. Not because I'm scared of the possibility of a pyroclastic flow: we understand volcanoes now. Pompeii is terrifying because it's an historical example of the possibility of encountering a disaster we'd only be able to understand much later in science.
There's all these disaster scenarios we've envisioned based on things we understand like nuclear war, pandemic, meteor strikes, climate disasters and the list goes on. But what about something we haven't even imagined yet; something that science will be catching up with afterward?

Then at least it'll be interesting! Maybe your remains, like those of the Pompeiians, will help future scientists learn about the disaster and how to avoid the next one!West Filly wrote: ↑Tue May 29, 2018 3:36 pmThere's all these disaster scenarios we've envisioned based on things we understand like nuclear war, pandemic, meteor strikes, climate disasters and the list goes on. If you've ever seen How It's Made, or the bits they'd show in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood where they show you a factory line:
I was thinking it'd be cool to see a feature length one of these. Instead of showing just one factory, it'd start at the raw materials being excavated from the Earth and then follow them all the way to the final product.
I think the success of this would hinge on them picking a really goddamn good narrator.

Tim Buckley went back in time and edited Loss for its 10th anniversary and anyway that's how I wound up learning CAD has 938 patrons and now appears to be several concurrent ongoing comics including one where Ethan and Lucas are superheroes and Lucas is gay

The art has genuinely improved, at least. I still really don't like how Buckley draws humans, especially their faces (they all end up looking like weirdly proportioned douchebags, I dunno what it is) but he's at least actually resembling a decent artist now. Good on him I guess??Weird Autumn wrote: ↑Sat Jun 02, 2018 1:29 pmTim Buckley went back in time and edited Loss for its 10th anniversary and anyway that's how I wound up learning CAD has 938 patrons and now appears to be several concurrent ongoing comics including one where Ethan and Lucas are superheroes and Lucas is gay

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
My Prime renewal comes up next week, and I’m trying to figure out if I have enough time or enough games left to sell to get $99, or if I should just let it expire. On one hand, I use the video streaming a lot, but on the other hand, it would probably be more responsible to just let it go, because it’s already too late to throw anything up on eBay and expect to have cash in time
As you can see, even when I am being a responsible adult, foreplanning is still not my strong suit. At least it’s funny and relatively harmless, instead of forgetting my phone bill or car insurance or something

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
I have a monthly Prime subscription specifically because while I can manage $100 a year things aren't always going to line up for me where the month where I can make that payment is the month where it's due and making sure I spare the $15 a month is just easier for me to manage even if it costs more in the long run.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
Today I learned that no matter how many times you measure it'll end up different than expected.
I 3d printed an enclosure for an Arduino Mega with a TFT display shield but I measured it wrong such that the enclosure's inner dimensions are 1mm off. It doesn't fit.
Also the holding pegs are fatter than anticipated but these can be slimmed without a problem.
At least I know that my printer can do straight bridges of 22mm without support just fine.

If I could design the afterlife, there'd be a special place you all have to go.
Every time someone ignored a task that needed doing, or said "ah, fuck it, someone else can deal with that" would be replayed in this special place. Before accessing the rewards of the afterlife you'd be made to carry out every menial task you put off one after the other, no rest. Then you'd get to go to the viewing gallery, where you could watch the people who left things to you, and you can shame the heck out of them.

Re: ITT Post Your Random Thoughts
It's no secret that some methods of communicating online are inherently more prone to leading to lengthy, angry arguments between users than others. If I were an evil genius, I'd analyze the various communities and social networks and figure out what combination of features would maximize that potential, while still coming across as innocuous to outsiders. Because I'm the social networks we have are already close to that platonic ideal, but I suspect we're not quite there yet. Then I'd pitch such a network to investors, specifically citing that as my reason, because arguments means engagement and engagement means more traffic and more traffic means more revenue through the ads that we won't introduce until we're already big and successful because that's the one part of the winning formula I don't have to be a genius to figure out.
If I were as much of a genius but not evil, I'd still do that analysis and draw up a design doc, and then I'd reveal it to the Internet as a warning to avoid any site that matches it, because I'm sure someone somewhere has the same idea and is plotting to unleash it on the world as soon as possible.
