All the clever little details from this episode that came up in the Freeze Frame thread have convinced me to give this another shot. It's obvious the animators were having as great a time as always.

I'm pretty sure the pine cone thing started from a random request in a livestream or something. People thought it was funny because it was so utterly bizarre and it ended up becoming a minor meme.

Finally catching up with this thread, and none of you have any taste. This wasn't a real Wow Factor episode, but it wasn't nearly as weak as people made me believe before I watched it. Good use of the characters, some nice callbacks, and this is actually the first episode WITHOUT a letter at the end!

I just wanted to note somewhere (hey, here's good) that the early scene of Dash diving around in the clouds has beautiful texture. The subtle little "poof" sound effects, the little swirls of cloud drifting up—it's really a masterpiece of visual and sound design. This episode might not be my or many people's idea of an ideal half-hour of Pony, but my God the little details are so well executed.

Yeah, it was only a few frames, but there was one reference in particular I had avoided seeing in print or in art up til now. Wasn't too thrilled about that. Other than that, I found some of its points interesting.

That suggestion about the rest of the Mane 6 thinking they're the best Mare Do Well would have immensely improved the ep - best improvement I've heard yet on this one. :allears:

Otherwise... yeah, he really points out the flaws pretty strongly... and looking at the R.D. "something's wrong with the baby" line again... that was a really uninspired line...
