I'm surprised at the ease with which most of you collected your fast food ponies- The McD's near me are definitely not doing the 'customer satisfaction boxes' thing.
It actually took me 5 trips to get the 6 main ponies. Due to a language barrier, they were seriously confused by my request to buy only toys. Luckily, middle school Spanish came to the rescue and equipped me to say things such as 'solo caballo blanco!' Yes, I was laughed at by old Hispanic ladies, but I feel it was worth it.

Was able to snag Rainbow dash at a McDonalds today, but a trip to another McDonalds proved they were sold out.

Do you guys ever use the "this is for my niece" excuse, or do you proudly ask for the toys and embrace the weird looks from the 17 yr old kid taking your order?

Do people _actually_ buying things for their family bother to specify?
no they don't.

Who is going to think you're lame for buying the toy ponys?
People who work at McDonalds.
And I am not so sure they are in any position to be superior to anybody else.

When buying toys in toy stores, try printing out a picture of what you want, that way you don't come off as somebody who has an intimate knowledge of ponies. yeah, it's a kid's wish list or something.

I'm not buying any toys but really, they shouldn't give a shit and neither should you. You give them money and they give you toys. It's just a transaction.

Rainbow Dash has proudly been on display on my desk, joining Twilight Sparkle this week. No weird looks from coworkers yet.

Guess they just anticipate this from me after two years. :pinkieshrug:

I saw the mini ponies 4 pack (RD, Twilight, AJ and Rarity) at Meijer when I went shopping today and I'll be damned if I didn't stare at it for like 5 minutes thinking "It's $10... That's not that bad... but I have so many groceries and things... can I? No, I shouldn't. But I want it! But it doesn't have Fluttershy so... but it DOES have Rarity and Apple Jack! But..."

I had to settle on new windshield wipers instead of ponies. I will be going back on Friday when I get paid. :sadrarity:

Ponies here were a means to an end. But as time goes on it seems like the ponies are becoming the end instead.

Would y'all mind terribly if I started a separate thread for MLP mods (post your favorite, etc), since they're not technically toys once you spend what I imagine would be hours painstakingly sculpting and painting and re-hairing and such? Maybe open up a proper discussion on restoration and/or modification of pony toys? Or would most of that fall into this thread anyways? :dizzy:

According to the Hasbro website, they have every every pony in a little figurine EXCEPT for Fluttershy. I couldn't possibly order any if I couldn't have a complete set. :( http://www.hasbro.com/mylittlepony/en_U ... u?Items=50

Although I probably wouldn't buy any of the toys, I do appreciate the design and consistency of the packaging. Their custom typography and visual elements are all well done. There's just one thing that bugs me, and it's almost all pink. There are other colors in the palette, designers... then again, the execs are probably hovering over them saying PINK IS FOR GIRLS and the Rarity-esque designer is sighing in frustration.

That's the problem with toys for girls in general.

However, there are a LOT of ponies that are not pink, but are something like purple or blue.

Not at all! I don't do customs but there are some amazing ones and a lot of really vomitous ones out there. You could probably run Regretsy for a year on terrible custom MLPs alone.

The worst part is EVERY Celestia toy is pink. I thought maybe just the McDonalds toy.. that would be okay. Then the official miniature... okay, sure, why not? Then the HUGE talking, light up one?!

Now I know she's a fictional character, but how hard is it to get the color right? I mean really. It would be like selling Spider-Man toys that are green and purple. It's just the wrong color, and there is little excuse for it. :rariwhat:

As far as I know, the color difference is more so the show's fault, as the toys were created before the show(they were displayed last summer at the 2010 Pony Fair). I'm guessing that during production of FiM someone decided that Celestia looked better white, thus, the color difference. I'm not sure this applies to the McD toys though as I have no clue when they were designed. :pinkieshrug:

Hello I'm the gayest man alive

Image

~~I might get the big Rarity later~~

Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash's hair are basically unstyleable and frizzy and curly. Applejack's hair is currently being held together with tape from her packaging but I thought it looked nice enough for the time being. I might put her hair in a braid later but first I have to learn how to do that.

Rainbow and Pinkie both came with a brush and a little animal friend that I don't care about. Applejack came with some hair berets and a cool ribbon.

I just wish their pony foreheads weren't so big. OH WELL.

Well... She does look better white. :colbert:

I suppose this is a legitimate problem with designing a show around toys, any late decision that will improve the quality of the show won't trickle down to the toy line for a long time, if ever.

Hasbro appears to have the individual 2" ponies up on their site, including Twilight, for $1.99 each. All of them save for Fluttershy. Poor Fluttershy.

Better do it today. I hear they're being switched out today. Again, ask for the "customer satisfaction box" because they'll most likely have them all in there. As much as I admire the people who go to lots of locations looking for what's left, chances are they might be missing out on getting them all in one place because the employees are too busy to open the customer satisfaction box or don't know about them (usually the managers do).

That said, this is how I got mine in one stop:

The customer satisfaction box looks like this:

I told myself that there was no way I'd buy any of the toys because I was more interested in the animation and humor of the show rather than any "gotta corral them all" obsession, besides, the show and toys aren't even out in my part of the world so it should be easy to avoid the merch. Then I started checking ebay... oh wow those McD's Pinkie Pie's are pretty cheap... it was a slippery slope. But now that I'm willing to throw a few dollars down for a Pinkie Pie they're all gone -- or are being shilled by evil people who either won't ship worldwide or who want nearly $20 for shipping. Griffons, all of them.

Now I just sit and plot and curse the world. :colbert: Let that be a cautionary tale to all of you.

I've got thousands of the bloody things. I was born (and remain) a girl though so I just had them as a kid and never really stopped. STILL don't have ANY of the FiM set in the UK though, which is just about driving me batty. A friend has nabbed me the McDonalds ones though, so I guess it's not all bad.

You guys seen the newest three? Not background characters, sadly. I really want that carrot pony and the Doctor Whooves guy (not to mention Derpy, but I kind of don't see that one happening.)
