I got tired of trying to find decent quality rips of all the songs from Friendship is Magic, so I decided to make my own. These are all directly ripped from high quality iTunes video rips, so they still have sound effects and any voiceover that may be on top of the song. I made some slight tweaks on certain tracks, mostly just to make the endings of some tracks sound less abrupt, and I mastered all of them, so they all have pretty equal levels.

Did iTunes downsample to 44.1kHz? I would have expected the audio to be 48kHz...

Raw audio is 48 KHz, but I extracted it at 44.1 KHz, which is CD quality. I didn't want the file sizes to be too huge and if you burned 48 KHz music to a CD, then it would just automatically convert to 44.1 KHz anyway.

I plan on keeping this thread updated when new songs come out, but I probably won't change the zip file every week, so I'll make individual .aif and .mp3 downloads of each song.

34 minutes of play time means I'm gonna put these on my iPod and go running to pony songs tonight! :v:

Something I've always wondered but never could be bothered to really investigate--is the end-credits music literally just the title theme with the vocals removed, or is it a whole different mix/arrangement?

You know, I always thought that they were completely different arrangements, but listening to them side-by-side I think they're only slightly different. The end credits don't have the intro bit and I think there's extra little riffs about 3 seconds and 7 seconds in. And I think FREEEEENS is shorter at the end. If you play them at the same time (and get it lined up right) they seem to match up otherwise.

EDIT: Talking about the season 1 arrangement, though that part of the season 2 arrangement isn't that different.

As far as I know, the only way to get that is off youtube, which doesn't really live up to my quality standards for these rips. I'm out of town until Monday, but when I get back, I'm planning on possibly ripping the CMC Go Crusading theme. The issue with that one is there are a lot of sound effects in it that I don't want to deal with removing, though.

This was already done a while back and pretty well I thought. The only problem I have is that it randomly starts out extremely loud, but otherwise good.

Also I'm fine with keeping the sound effects in the CMC video Octavia.
