@Scuderia - I got a "only last 225 images are visible" message and then a pro account message. I dunno :pinkieshrug:

And yeah next time I'm splitting up the album, this one got big on me quickly...

Oh look, a new page :sheepish:. Act III all takes place at the Highland Reservoir...

Image

Image

Image

Some might have missed this, but R.D. hasn't completely dropped the Wonderbolts...

Image

...but it's Ponyville first. :allears:

:spike101: : This isn't going to work out.

Image

Carry the 4 up top and...

Image

...we're OK? (Spoiler: we're not.)

Image

Image

Need iTunes version to see this more clearly! I'll try to get this tonight if no one else has, although I've had trouble getting the ginormous 1080p.

Image

Goggled ponies :awesomedash:

Image

This horn has a nice pegasus in the front, must be passed from town to city to town every year.

Image

The first time spoiler people saw Big McLargehuge is a long time ago now...

Slight derpage, Twilight.

Image

Awesome.

The only thing left to see now is walking on one leg! :v:

Image

Image

This pegasus has rain drops for his cutie mark and he tires out... I tell ya :rainbert:

Image

Wait, what's this coming at the screen?

Image

These guys are this close for single frames, by the way.

I'll start with RDtree.jpgs in a bit. :allears:

Let's finish this thing off, finally. :v: (Because I gotta go soon) (This will get a bit long)

Image

Image

Image

Haha. Like Headless said, you have to watch this one in full, it's definitely something different than the usual gag.

Image

Try, try again!

Image

Even Derpy's tired out.

Image

Image

One last Big McLargehuge:

Image

Image

Image

Now here's a face I do have a problem with... Twilight needs a chin drawn on her. Or maybe it's the cheeks again.

Image

Image

Image

This just looks awesome

Image

Image

You must, you must, you must!

Image

Image

Image

A gulp, and here we go!

Image

Mr. Badger seems pretty uncomfortable. :v:

Image

I'll make it...

It's all good, yes it is.

Image

Team :awesomedash: and :allears:.jpg

Image

Arial font again. I'm sticking to my unicorn standardized letters/numbers theory, if it matters. :iamapony:

Image

Image

NO...

Image

Now those are mean faces on Flitter & Cloudchaser we didn't see in Act II, so this is all in Fluttershy's head.

Image

Triumphoverproblem.jpg

Image

:awesomedash: :allears: :ohboy:

Image

Image

Image

Spitfire was already posted, so skipping that, but this is cute mid-jump:

Image

Image

And the water tornado has touched off the ground, finally.

Image

Image

Perfect helix exit!

Image

Image

...No clue what those faces mean. None.

Image

Image

Hmm?

Image

:facehoof:

Image

Clouds being used on-demand as they should be!

Image

Image

No my diabetes I've already been overloaded

Image

Image

Wings have bones & muscles? Wings have bones & muscles.

Image

Flutterawwshucks.jpg

Image

Apparently Spitfire's voice was changed (not surprising - she's on the same level as any background pony, pretty much).

Image

Fluttershyawwshucks2.jpg

Image

:allears:

Image

:yay:

Image

Image

A... three-way... flute. Well that is interesting :spike101:

Image

Image

Fluttersmug.jpg of course, but again the chin looks odd. :psygum:

Image

Image

So, real fact - Angel is the main animal here, with the brushie, semi-pissed look at the squirrel, and being the coach. But, he isn't addressed at all by name, Fluttershy doesn't talk to him alone at all, and unless you know from previous episodes you could consider him just another animal. Interesting direction.

Image

Cloudsdale is so happy to get that cloud out, they're way overdue. Hope nowhere is experiencing a drought! :nngh:

And that's it! Whew... :chillin:

Eh? I just listened again, and it sounds like the same VA to me...

Though it's funny how Flitter and Cloudchaser's voices seem to swap from the opening of the episode. When she reads Dash's paper in the opening, Flitter has Spike's VA. Through the rest of the episode, Cloudchaser is Spike's VA, and Flitter is someone else.

There was at least one person in the spoiler chat yesterday who didn't care for the episode, but they were run off by everyone else for daring to have a dissenting opinion.

From what I can recall, one of their main complaint was that they feel the episode has too many shout-outs to the fandom and it dragged the whole thing down. (Fluttershy being a tree, too many shots of Derpy in the background, etc.)

There *were* a lot of shoutouts, but the beauty of this ep is they don't feel at all forced, and rather than get in the way of a great story, they help tell it.

That sequence of Fluttershy faces toward the end there, about from when they break the 800wp barrier until she gets carried off in triumph, is just pure freaking amazing.

Hell, every frame of Fluttershy in this thing is amazing.

I love how they managed to pull the Sports Training Montage thing on us—in a "girly" way, i.e. by subverting it with butterflies and dandelions, and by having her big breakthrough at the end be signified by rising up into the light with a beatific smile instead of thumping one's chest and yelling OORAH like in montages of old. And yet it feels all the more sincere because of it, not like some kind of silly parody.

Man, this episode! It's probably going to be a favorite among goony introverts like myself, because the way it portrays performance anxiety is one of the best things this show has done.

Image

I love that it teaches kids to empathize with others by putting them in the place of someone who was, herself, traumatized as a kid by namecalling and bullying. It illustrates just how unhelpful this kind of negative reinforcement is, by showing the trauma itself alongside its long-term effects. I bet if more shows did this, bullying wouldn't be anywhere near the problem it is today.

I don't know about what's happening with RD and the Wonderbolts anymore. I guess Rainbow wants to break records in front of Spitfire to impress them.

Checking in to say that this episode skyrocketed straight into my top-5 the moment it wrapped up. They were firing on all cylinders this time, never a dull moment and great touches all throughout. I could list everything I enjoyed but I don't think anybody here wants to read that long of a post. I will say that I REALLY enjoyed the old timey video, Buff McBigfly, Fluttershy workout montage, and the tornado scene in its entirety. I feel that they're constantly improving on animation and facial expressions, and I'm always so impressed to see how far they can go.

Even if Spitfire´s voice war replaced, another minor detail on the story department was kept right. She was really called "Rainbow Dash" by Spitfire, meaning that she knows her by now. Which is on par with the events of Best Night Ever, where she told Spitfire her name ("You´re the flyer who won the best young flyers competetition." - "Yeah. Name´s Rainbow Dash.")

Put me down for thinking Fluttertree is one of the greatest things ever.

It's not fanservice, it's the writers thinking it was as memorable a line (in Over a Barrel) as we all did, and they just couldn't resist throwing it in as a callback gag because it made them laugh their asses off.

And the fact that (as someone mentioned before) it's also a callback to Rainbow Dash being able to see right through her friends' cleverridiculous disguises... it's that kind of thing that makes me just roll around in a giggling, twitching mess.

BTW, the Flim Flam ep had a Fluttertree reference as well, but perhaps wasn't as overt.

Also, Flutters dodges a tree coming at her towards the end when she's fighting the wind and deciding whether to join the other pegasuseseses in the tornado. I wonder whether the "avoiding the tree" was meant symbolically as well.

Finally rewatched the episode in HD. I wasn't quite as crazy about it as most of the guys, maybe because I'm not a big Fluttershy fan, but it was still a solid 8-8,5/10 and close to my top 5 of the season. The Fluts/RD dynamic worked really well again - I think Rainbow is a much better character in "serious" episodes than comical ones, where we don't need the constant reminder of how cool (she thinks) she is. The high point of the episode was Fluttershy's training montage, that shot of her basking amidst the dandelion seeds was gorgeous. :allears:

Also, this pegasus. Just look at that determination in her eyes!

Did anyone else notice that the flashback was of Flight CAMP, whereas it was Flight SCHOOL back in S1 (which RD dropped out of) - and FillyDash looked a lot younger than Fillyshy (which she was of course)

Also I want a plugin for my PowerPoint that makes transitions between slides into RD pulling down the next slide :v:

In Cutie Mark Chronicles, Dash and Fluts were in Summer Flight Camp together. Dash later went to Junior Speedsters Flight Camp (with Gilda) and presumably finished. Flight School may be an entirely different thing.
