There was talk some time ago about which ponies were close to which other ponies. I was curious about who people thought Tsparx was closest to. I left out Spike for obvious reasons.

I actually do have a hard time choosing between any of them. They've actually spread her as a character between the mane 6 very well.

Outside of them, Spike obviously is the best answer.

Although if I had to choose, she did go to save Applejack first in Return of Harmony.

Twilight relies on Applejack to get shit done, and consults her far more than any other pony. None of her relationships seem as close as say Fluttershy/Rarity, though.

I don't know if I could count Applejack as her very best friend. It's more she respects Applejack the most and knows she could rely on her regardless of the situation.

She does seem to share the most traits with Applejack, and they often end up being the peanut gallery to their weird friends' antics a lot (Luna eclipsed after the spiders disaster, May the best pet win sidelines), and yeah she does always seem to go to Applejack first when she needs help.

Actually this is a pretty interesting question and no immediate answer comes to mind. People are making a pretty strong argument for Applejack, though, and really I hadn't thought about it before.

But yeah, it's Spike, really.

It's interesting, those two were hardcore presented as best friends in Season 1, but they were never really revisited in Season 2, like, at all.

I think the writers intentionally paired the three races with each other, so Rarity is a go-to person for Twilight. But Twilight is everywhere, so it's hard to say.
Except AJ really can't stand Pinkie.

Well, Applejack was the first of the mane six Twi met.

I don't know if she cares for AJ on a higher level than she does her other friends but AJ is indeed a very dependable pony because of her personality so maybe Twilight would apreciate her a tiny little bit more than the others?

This is just silly speculation though. I'm sure the show is intended to show that all six of them are very close and great friends to each other.

Applejack and Twilight do have a rapport, and if they were in a buddy cop movie, it would make sense.
Twilight is such a central element for a whole season that she's had a lot of time with each character, which makes it hard for me to say there's a favorite.

However, the converse does seem correct to me. It does seem to fit that Applejack would consider Twilight her closest non-family friend.
