Yep, those are definitely the Applejack and Twilight from the gift set. So I guess they are still making them. I wish I knew what it would take to convince them to bank on a full combo of the main six in that style. Now that the show's had time to establish itself and gain a following among kids who wouldn't necessarily be interested in brushie-brushie, I bet it would sell a lot better than the gift set did.

Considering how the show is supposed to only exist to sell toys, yeah, you think they'd be a little more aware.

To be fair, brushie-brushie toys had sold well on and off for a couple of decades, and the fan following (both adults and kids; ratings have gone up among the intended demo as the show has gone along just as it has among the adult fans) was a lot smaller when the gift set came out. Individual ponies are also cheaper, and it didn't include all of the mane 6 (presumably so they could sell another set later on with Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash) so any little girl who wanted one of those characters wouldn't have wanted it either. Now really would have been a better time to release something like that.

You pretty much said exactly what I've been thinking. That, plus the annoying off-model-ness of two or three of the characters in it depending on whether or not one considers hatless Hat Pony a deal breaker.

Wow, so they're basically using a fan name as (half of) the actual name for a toy. That's even more surreal than a fan name being used in the show.

Although it would've been cooler if they called her Lyra in the show first, just to give the fans a few more heart attacks.

They could be villains in the show. The Uncanny Valley effect makes the ponies very suspicious of them. :applejargh:

It's hilarious that it took the same fan-pressure process that led to "Lyra" being made real for them to acknowledge Trixie's canon name.

It's like the toy department just threw up their hands and did one of those table-flipping maneuvers. ALL RIGHT FINE GOD

^ Could it be because of the unicorn mold?

With the other molds it seems they have switched it around a bit, from what I remember. For example, there's at least one pegasus with Pinkie eyes, IIRC.

I have to think that a major company taking a fan-created name like this is a first. And between that and the fact that, well, it's Lyra, my no-brushables rule is finally getting broken. I guess the "brony pack" is next, followed by the rest of the main six. Sigh.

Another thing that's interesting about these new brushables is that they apparently have Lesson Zero included on a DVD. I wonder why did they pick that particular episode. Is the episode where the main character goes insane and harasses small children really the best way to introduce kids to MLP:FiM? :gotcha:

Have we figured out which one of us has the biggest collection? I only have a TS from Willsun and a light-up-wings RD that some friends got me as a gag gift. :flattered:

I am probably not going to be able to resist the urge to buy Trixie and Lyra, even if their eyes are the wrong shape :applejargh: Oh, well, that's what paint is for. Getting one of my favorite episodes on a mini-DVD would be just a nice bonus.

Going by this article, they aren't in stock. Chances are the actual release date is August 7th, given that it seems like they're co-ordinating the release of all wedding merchandise. I wonder if that's when the collector's pack will come out as well, and how long all of these will take to reach the UK.
