Okay, all the talk I'm hearing about the server has me confused and slightly worried. I'm a complete new guy to this thing, I've loaded up single player maybe 4 times total (I've been way too busy.) I'm still at the "oh sweet I just found some iron! I really need some!" phase and my house consists of about a 10x12x8 prism of wooden blocks, and this does not sound like a newb friendly environment. Am I mistaken? As usual with artsy stuff my mind has a lot of neat ideas for things to do but my brain/hands can't carry it out. Combine this with lack of knowledge about... well, everything, and it seems like I'm better to stick to SP for another few months.

The drama is exaggerated a bit, it really doesn't affect much when you're actually playing. I jumped in yesterday and have been having a blast building my little hideaway. As long as you don't break/steal other people's stuff or leave half chopped trees everywhere you're not gonna run into problems with the other players really. A nice thing about playing multi is that if you have any questions or need spare supplies to start out usually people can help you out. Finding undeveloped land takes a bit sometimes, but the live map helps with that a lot.

Oh and I'm zool114 on the server for anyone that missed me popping in. I'm the one with the terrifying bedrock pony skin. :yay:

Yeah, do jump in - most people on the server aren't actually total jerks!
The great thing about SMP on this server setup is there's so many ways to play: You want to potter around with your mates? There's that. You want to buy high-level tools and get building giant pixelart pone? There's that too. You want a completely vanilla Survival existance? Just take yourself many klicks out of Spawn and punch some trees. You want to be a childish little git and gank adventurers in the WELL-MARKED PVP ZONES? Fill your boots, you suck. :-/

You can even build idiotic underground railway networks :v:

It's not even exactly a cannon. Basically, you set off 4 TNT, wait X seconds, and then throw a pearl into the center of the TNT as it explodes and gets sent ridiculously far.

I need to find the tutorial on this again so I don't fuck it up.
(also IIRC armor with Protection will reduce ender pearl damage.)

Using the old world files seems pretty terrible now that everyone has had a chance to download it and poke around everywhere. And given that the vast majority of players have already set up elsewhere and won't be going back, it's going to be really weird what with the gobs of locked doors and chests everywhere, all full of fabulous amounts of resources. Just seems like a bad idea.

Agreed completely. Occasionally there's a bit TOO much bronyism going on in the server, when it completely dominates chat- but I try to avoid that simply because I know this server isn't ours and the least we can do is be courteous to those who don't watch the show by not overwhelming them with it.

This was what I tried to do on G's server for a while before I gave up because there was just too much and I was pretty much the only one. :-/

Anyway, progress is going well on my (sort of) super secret hilltop castle. I've had the layout for a week or so now and been dicking around with the insides. Built the gatehouse over the past 2 days and finished the bridhe tonight.
Then whats been semi-difficult is extending the towers that hang over the edge of the cliff downwards and then taper them off at the bottom. I just finished the large keep section before logging out tonight.

Most recent: Just finished the main keep structure 'below ground level' and extending it down the side of the cliff.

I think it's amazing how quickly people are to build big stuff; We've got cities and whatnot shooting up all over the place. Personally I'm more of a stockpiler and tinkerer. For instance today I put the final touches on my big chicken pen.

Turns out the chickens drown in it. Back to the drawing board. :-I

Chickens are bastards. I hate them. I hate them with a passion. They hate you and will try their best to get out of your pen and mess stuff up no matter what you try. I built an entirely closed cube out of fence bricks, with a piston-powered airlock at the door. When the chickens discovered they couldn't get out of this they just started clipping through the fence.

The next coop I make will be two-blocks thick of solid stone. Chickens will be forced into the corners using water sluiceways and feeding will be conducted through a 0.5 block wide gap. The ends of the sluiceways will have clock-powered crushers which wash items into a collection area underneath. There will be one entrance, a narrow ladder up through the top-centre, with the edges lined with flaming hellstone. This will lead to an anteroom with a double-thick piston airlock to the outside.

Gentlemen, welcome to flavour country.

Edit: Maybe piston-powered drowning floodgates would be more appropriate.

I guess what I'm saying is my next chicken coop will be that jail from faceoff

UPDATE - OK so a previous admin gave us the plugin folder from the old server. This includes EVERYTHING including shop data, clans, economy totals, livemap, etc. What we have to do now is install these and then get control over them. (since they were under someone else controls) Xyoro already has the plugins and we've been installing them a few at a time and testing. I should have an update this week.

Did one of you guys do this? I think it's a nice gesture. :yay:

Right, so I'd like to build a huge arc in MC. This will carry a minecart all the way to a cloud city from the surface (which is connected to the scrubway). My issue is making plans that will actually work, since I'm not great with this sort of stuff. Anybody know how I could do this easily?
The numbers are the distance in blocks, and that top one is the amount I'd like for the arc to extend above before going back down to the cloud. If you can't read it, it says "~5 ish". Obviously not to scale.

Well, problem #1, minecart track won't run vertical, so you're limited to a maximum 45 deg slope. So if you're going to run track on it, an arc is out, unless you do ladder up to the section where it reaches 45 degrees and then do track from there. Otherwise you're going to be limited to a great huge diagnonal that levels off and then decends.
