Also, for any of you that are planning on going to Bronycon (or any other events) please send me a PM and I will give you access to At The Gala, which is a hidden subforum for meetups/cons. The reason it is hidden is to protect personal information from the outside world, so if you are planning on going, please let me know. I'll get you in ASAP.

That was one VA I didn't think I'd get to sign my Comic Con poster. How fabulous! :allears:

Of course, now I'll need to get Snails too.

As will Andrea Libman!

Along with Nicole Oliver, that means two of the three VAs from the last BroNYCon are returning. I bet by the time it's June, every VA will have signed on except Tabitha.

Tabitha, you've voiced characters in previous incarnations of My Little Pony. How does your work on Friendship Is Magic compare to your past experiences with the franchise?

"Who has never killed an hour? Not casually or without thought, but carefully: a premeditated murder of minutes. The violence comes from a combination of giving up, not caring, and a resignation that getting past it is all you can hope to accomplish. So you kill the hour. You do not work, you do not read, you do not daydream. If you sleep it is not because you need to sleep. And when at last it is over, there is no evidence: no weapon, no blood, and no body. The only clue might be the shadows beneath your eyes or a terribly thin line near the corner of your mouth indicating something has been suffered, that in the privacy of your life you have lost something and the loss is too empty to share." BEEEEEEEEEP

Were you pleased that Season 2 gave greater screen time to supporting characters such as Princess Luna and Granny Smith?

*crackle* "My hands resemble some ancient tree: the roots that bind up the earth, the rock and the ceaselessly nibbling wordms. But you are too young for trees to know anything of their lives. Oh what a crippled existence 900 years must lead." BEEEEEEEEEP
/
Image

What mental exercises do you perform before a session to "psych yourself up" or get into character?

*pop* *hiss* "Install letters every time cameras attack priceless rubies in captive eskimos at noble dens at cunning embassies running tainted ambages in near dear eagles going right every excellency on free flowing rides enscrolled euphony-as-soul searing ocular cats install and tenDer immeasurable owls never tearing away kNown emblems murdered everywhere and wOrn at yarn." We should have Tabitha read Berrybot's answers to those questions, record it, and send it to bronycon. And that will be her official response.

Bronycon website has a countdown, not too sure what will be at the end (well I do, it's already sunday here and the countdown says it's over :v: ) but I belive it'll be something to do with Tara Strong and her #Twilightlicious hashtag on twitter...

Just a hunch. :iiam:

Arggh I want to go to BroNYcon so badly :gonkity: Honestly seeing Q himself is possibly the biggest non-MLP-related draw, aside from possibly hooking up with some cute guys from Tumblr while I'm in the area. It goes without saying that meeting Lauren Faust in person would blow my mind. I don't suppose there's a ponygoon caravan in the works..? I'm all the way out on the West Coast and to be totally honest the Washington meetup sounds much less amazing.

I know there's a group starting in Chicago and heading east from there, but I don't know about any other than that. You'd have to ask an admin for access to the meetup forum, maybe there's another group going.

Yeah, I'd like to go myself, but I'm not sure I could afford it. Hotel plus parking plus gas plus the ticket could well drain me of spending cash for several months at this point. I've never even been to a con, and that's like a nerd rite of passage too. Maybe next year or in the fall or something.

Yeah so far it's like $450 for plane
$200 for hotel at the con
$60 for con reg
+ travel (I still have my metro card from January :gotcha: )
+ food
+ however much else for a few more days in NYC - anyone staying around on monday gets the world's greatest pastrami on rye* from Katz's in their faces.
+ $600 for a sugar frosted Pinkie Pie
+ $400 for some sort of Vinyl Scratch fan made creation thingy
Image I'm not doing this again for a while. I don't care how much Chunky begs.

I worry that with almost everyone people could possibly want as GOHs ganging up on this summer's Bronycon, there won't be any left for the next one. Then again, since Libman and Oliver were also present at the last one, I wonder if they're planning on just being present at every one from now on unless they have schedule conflicts.

I imagine it's a pretty good gig. Get flown across the country, get put up in a decent hotel, answer some questions from people who are falling over every single word you say, then sign some autographs while people gush over you some more.

Yes, it's probably closer to terrible than I'm making it sound, but for someone whose job it is to say funny things in a tiny little sound booth all day, the opportunity to hear some applause for what you do has to be really tempting.

I've got to wonder if there isn't some way to actually get Tabitha to attend some form of social convention like all the other mane six VA's. Or maybe it's a safety prevention, since having the voice of Rarity AND Luna, arguably two of the most popular ponies on the show despite the latter barely existing more or less, might cause mass heart attacks and make Bronycon the most deadly convention in history.

Chaos Sonic wrote:

Well, Blizzcon focuses on the multiple franchises Blizzard has (I.E. Starcraft II, WoW, the recently resurected Diablo). If this convention was about Hasbro (Hascon?), then it would be comparable as it is multiple properties of a single company.

But Bronycon? It's dedicated to one specific generation of a show about ponies.

Meanwhile, Luna was popular enough to beat out one of the main characters in a popularity poll back when her only appearance was the less-than a minute of screentime 2nd episode.

But yeah outside of ponygoons Rarity is pretty unpopular. Not the most unpopular, but certainly the most divisive.

Good point, as much as she isn't a [insert expletive], some people refuse to see past the high-class manner with which she carries herself.

My opinion may also have been impacted by spending an inordinate amount of time every Saturday in a TF2 game with a guy who has an obsession with anything related Rarity or her VA. He's not anywhere close to being one of the more extreme fans (and is not fond of the term "brony"), but he has told me his current Holy Grail is the G4 Minty (another character voiced by Tabitha back in G3, for those who don't know) and spent an ungodly amount of money for a "Hipster" Rarity plushie.

Lazy wrote:Meanwhile, Luna was popular enough to beat out one of the main characters in a popularity poll back when her only appearance was the less-than a minute of screentime 2nd episode.

It would seem there is a direct inverse proportion between character screen time and fan popularity. Luna shows up for less than a minute and doesn't even get mentioned again for the rest of the season? Literal Dark Horse fan favorite for the duration of the first ponyless summer. Pegasus with a funny face and derped eyes? Fandom mascot who becomes a voiced character (also by Tabitha). DJ Pony that was little more than a throwaway gag? Official recognition in promotional material and a toy (this could also apply to Lyra, but since she's a stock BG pony she got a lot more love from the animators).

^Indeed. Of course, as it was mentioned before when this sort of stuff came up, the reason those characters are so popular is most likely cause they're like collective OCs that can be whatever people want them to be. So, when people voted for Luna, they pobably just voted for the Luna from their favorite fanfic/fancomic.

Hmm. Though this does make me remember that apparently Tabitha often doesn't give interviews and stuff?

Is there a specific reason or does she just not like attention all that much? *Pondering Rarity.jpg*

I believe she simply said she doesn't feel like she'd have anything interesting to say about the show (I believe she is mistaken), probably just doesn't want the attention and whatnot in that way.
