Hello, I’m new, and I was pointed to this forum as a pretty great place to pony up and find some pony based RPG games to get into. So here I am.
I discovered My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic around August 2011 at the beginning of Season 2. I had initially dismissed the occasional pony avatar, and pony image I ran across as the internet being the big crazy place it is. I figured most people who said they liked the show were doing so in order to be ironic or silly. But then I saw a couple of reviews by CR on That Guy With The Glasses on the MLP craze that had built up over the past year under my radar.
Due to seeing CR’s review of the show, hearing that the creator of the show was Lauren Faust, (whose other works I had enjoyed) and being a bit down after a long week, and looking for some entertainment to pass a late afternoon, I decided to check out an episode or two to see what this was all about. Worst come to worst, I figured I would point and laugh at how stupid the show for little girls with pallet colored ponies was and give it the MST3K treatment for myself. Getting my entertainment one way or another. Thus began my prismatic descent into ponies. Of which I will now give the cliff notes.

*Watches Episode 1: Friendship is Magic.* “Egh, that was decent enough. Better then I expected for a little girls show. Pretty basic for a first episode, introduce the characters type of affair. Well…I’m not ending this one a cliffhanger. Onto episode 2.”
*Watches Episode 2: Friendship is Magic.* “Hehehe, they nukes Nightmare Moon with a magical rainbows. Not bad overall all things considered…well…I still have an hour or two to kill.”
*Watches Episodes 3-4.* “Hmm, this is actually quite entertaining. Dare I say this show is even…good? Sure, its somewhat girly, and the friendship reports are a bit silly, but still…One more episode…”
*Watches Episodes 5-11.* “Winter-Wrap Up, Winter Wrap Uuuuupppp! Darn it, that song is going to be in my head for the rest of the week, And I Love It! Why can’t I stop watching this show about ponies? This is becoming an obsession.”
*Watches Episodes 12-14.* “…I just watched an episode based around making dresses. Dresses…and really, really liked it…And now one of my favorite characters is a fashionista, girly-girly pony obsessed with how ponies look, and I now think she is a complicated and well thought out character thanks to this last episode and Dog and Pony Show…”*Pulls out man-card and rips it up.* “Well I don’t deserve this anymore, and I Just Don’t Care! More ponies!”
*Watches Episodes 15-Return of Harmony Part 1 and realizes that Part 2 has not been released yet.* What?! No! It can’t end like that! Not on a cliffhanger with Discord prevailing! When is the next episode coming out?! *Google’s and discovers Equestria Daily.* So much pony! And I want all of it!

So yea, a full season later of rabidly loving the show brings me to now. Never in my life did I imagine I would love a show involving a bunch of candy colored equines. But its excellent writing, good animation, catchy song, and wonderful characters drew me into the show. The show has pretty much single handedly reawakened my love of musicals that had slowly died out somewhere during my teenage years, and showed me that they can be used as narrative devices to further a plot rather than being a rude interrupt of the show I was watching, and be entertaining in the process. It has shown me that fanfics don’t have to be terrible, and can in fact be quite good on any number of levels. Then a talented, diverse, and fantastic fan base continues to surprise and amaze me. I’m now even at the point of going about gamemastering a RPG using a fanmade system for My Little Pony. If you had told me I would be doing this a year ago, I would have laughed at you, and thought you were pulling my leg.
So that brings me to the here and now. I’ve just moved to a different state for a new job, the long ponyless summer is upon us, and I’m looking to entertain myself in the meantime.
