I may be biased, but I think he deserves the happiness this has brought him. He deals with bullies in school, he's picked on daily, he's been threatened, had obscene pictures drawn on the back of his shirt, had tobacco juice spit into his backpack, been tricked into asking another boy a sexual question he didn't understand, and yet he still has a smile and hug for the people he loves, and he wants to be friends with everyone. It hurts him so much when someone doesn't like him. Now he can always say to himself, "Someone as cool as Tara Strong likes me, so there CAN'T be anything wrong with me."

Pretend I posted all of the emoticons at once right here, because that is what I am feeling.

I keep thinking it's got to be, like, the best thing ever for you to achieve in a voice-acting career: for a character you voice to become so beloved that you're actually in demand to do something like this.

It's better for VAs than for regular actors or for rock stars in a way, too: on a phone call you have the freedom to not have to look like anything; you can literally just be that character, dropping a line to a fan. How great would it be—say you're a kid who's as stuck on this show as we are, but doesn't have the social tools to share it with anybody in a healthy way. And then one day the phone rings, and "Is this ____? Hi! This is Twilight Sparkle!" :flattered:

However it went down, Tara knows in a first-hand way what an impact the show's had on people, and she's willing to be what amounts to a special-needs counselor in order to contribute to the whole phenomenon in her own way. :allears:

This is why Poni is popular now, not because it's some sort of magical beacon unifying the fandom into a bunch of do-gooders for the sake of it, but for reminding all of us that it's not all grimness and darkness - it's possible and desirable to be this awesome to your fellow humans!

It broke my heart to read what that poor kid has to put up with at school, especially as I know that there's many, many others putting up with the same and worst, but Tara's actions have restored my faith in the human race somewhat and let's hope she'll inspire other people to be awesome too.

EqD finally picked up the story. Apparently the whole conversation was posted on their LJ account (which I couldn't access).

Here it is (there's one exchange they did I didn't know about before):

Tara: Is this Dragon?
Dragon: ...yes.
Tara: Do you know who this is?
Dragon: Yes, it's Twilight Sparkle.

Dragon: Tara, you are so talented with all those voices you do.
Tara: Yes, yes I am, aren't I?

Tara: (in Twilight's voice) I love you, Dragon.
Dragon: (stunned, muttering) ...love you, too, Twilight.

Tara: Dear Princess Celestia, today I got to talk to an awesome person named Dragon.
Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle.

Tara and Dragon: Sunshine, Sunshine, ladybugs awake! Clap your hooves and do a little shake!

Tara: (in Raven's voice) Dragon, if anyone bothers you about liking My Little Pony, I'll kick their butts.
