More in context (now that Firefox has stopped being a derp and let me look at the whole PDF), it sounds like there's a contingent of fans at Valve who annoy their coworkers by making references to the show during whatever their equivalent of water cooler conversation is. I wouldn't expect anything less.

Well, TF2 does have a really big MLP Fan base. So I'm sure the workers hear it from the clients and it gets passed up the ladder.

Then again it could just be Gabe passing it down the ladder as well. :gotcha:

I read that as "Look for Season 3 to look twice as pretty" :vogue: :allears:

Basically if you did computer graphics for games in the early 90's you'd have read this.

Gabe could probably fund the entire documentary with his pocket change and write it off on his taxes.

I wish Hasbro would lend out licenses to good developers like Valve and not to makers of Facebook-gaming junk like Zynga. I would totally buy Portal: MLP Edition many times over. :allears: Of course, it might take ten years to come out, considering how Valve Time works... so maybe that's not such a good idea.

Heh -
for a period of time in the early to mid 80's Microsoft gave away stock willy-nilly to all its employees as part of compensation.
It was still a young upstart company so, eh, why not?
This is before the era of giant high profile IPOs. Anyway - a co worker of mine started working there a few months after the "willy nilly" phase. No one back then would have guessed O hay the stock would have split ten times before the bust of 2000.

Gaben must have been at the point where 1. Retire forever ( :cheese: boooooring! ) 2. Still youngish and smart and in a pile of cash - self funded startup :crack:

I think it's part of the fact that they WERE self funded that they were able to delay Half Life 1 for a year and then taking it from good to great. Still, it's a risk he took. Hire a staff of Twenty and see how fast a few million lasts.

Stuff wrote:The team behind Firefox recently mentioned ponies. I wonder if some of them are fans of the show.

Bit of a difference between just mentioning the show and making their own OC:
Image

EDIT: Also, sadly, Valve's employee handbook reveals why they will never make a pony game: owning their own IP is really important to them. Makes sense; I don't think they want to end up in a situation where they have to remove a game from sale due to the license expiring, like Sega were forced to do with OutRun Online Arcade, for example.

Andrew W.K. and Ponyville's pink purveyor of smiles have more than a few things in common, but primarily they like to party - and party hard. More than just a great way to have a good time, Andrew makes it into a lifestyle, making his job as fun as his party, and making his party as important as his job. Be sure to catch his panel on how he lives the life of Pinkie Pie herself, and learn all his party secrets by following @AndrewWK on Twitter!
