Snake's Animated Streaming Spectacular

Post by Yolostar (?) » Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:53 pm

:sweetielarm:No Stream on the 23rd. I think at this point just wait for me to post in the thread. :sweetielarm:

Current Schedule:
There should be stuff here but there isn't right now.....

Hey guys, if you haven't noticed(you have), we are in the middle of the long ponyless summer. While the absence of new pastel horses every week may be distressing for many of you, most of us find ways of coping. One such way is to watch OTHER CARTOONS! Which is exactly what I plan to do here. Starting Monday, June 18th at 7 o' clock Eastern US time, I will start live streaming various cartoon series on a regular basis. The streams will mostly consist of 90's era cartoons but some other stuff may work its way in. Here's a running list of what I'm currently planning on streaming:

Powerpuff Girls
Dexter's Lab
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Samurai Jack
Ed, Edd, n Eddy
Johnny Bravo
Megas XLR
Doug
Reboot
Animaniacs
Freakazoid
Rocko's Modern Life
Hey Arnold!
2 Stupid Dogs
Batman TAS
Pinky and the Brain
S1 of Rugrats
S1 of Spongebob
Darkwing Duck

As of now, this list is incomplete and I'd like your guys' help in filling it out. If there is a cartoon series you would like to see streamed, post it in the thread. Keep in mind what I'm looking to stream, mostly 90s cartoons. I'm willing to branch out abit, but keep most suggestions in that category. The stream can be found at My Livestream Page.
FAQ
Q: Why aren't you using synchtube for this? Everyone else uses it!
A: I really don't feel like trying to upload all of these cartoons to youtube where there's a chance that they could be taken down. Livestream is pretty lax about streaming tv shows on their site and I've used it before. I've also got many of these cartoons on DVD and I don't feel like ripping the episodes. Livestream is easier for me to use and it's not as if the quality takes a huge hit.

Q: Will you be streaming every episode of the cartoons in the list?
A: Probably not every episode. There are some series that I would like to show every episode, but the majority will just be some choice episode picks. If you've got a particular episode you'd like to see, post in here or PM me about it.

Q: How long do you plan on running this?
A: All summer, at least till fall semester starts.

Q: When will I be able to tune in to cartoony goodness?
A: Right now I am planning on streaming three times a week starting June 18th. Twice during the week, Monday and Wednesday, I'll stream for a few hours starting at around 7pm Eastern US time. I'm also planning on having extended Saturday streams starting around 4pm Eastern. Saturday streams will probably run for 5-6 hours. I may also consider Sunday streams if interest is high enough. These times can change if enough people want a different time.

Q: Can I suggest a cartoon?
A: Well, duh, I said as much earlier. If you've got a suggestion, post it in the thread. If enough people agree with your suggestion, I'll add it to the list. Remember, try to stick to 90s cartoons.

So, if anyone has any suggestions feel free to post em. If not, I'll see you guys on the 18th at 7pm Eastern!

You should also get some Pinky & The Brain in there. It may have been a spin-off from Animaniacs but I feel Pinky & The Brain is the best show from the Kids WB line up.

Also, Darkwing Duck. Best Disney afternoon show. :chillin:

No list of quality '90s cartoons is complete without the glory that is THE TICK! (please read this sentence in his voice t.i.a.)

edit: also, Batman TAS and Justice League/JL Unlimited are quality and from that era.

Unless it's a little too recent/too hard to obtain, some classic 1999-2003 Spongebob would be nice.
If you want to go REAL old school, there's some public domain Popeye cartoons you can synch.

Okay, we've gotten some good suggestions so far. From what people have suggested, I'll add:
2 Stupid Dogs
Batman TAS
Pinky and the Brain
S1 of Rugrats
S1 of Spongebob
Darkwing Duck

I don't particularly want to add in any newer cartoons but if I'm fishing for stuff to show I'll do some Symbiotic Titan. Zim is a no go based on the simple fact that I can't stand the show :-/. Also, the stream on the 18th will feature the first 5 or 6 episodes of The Powerpuff Girls. I figured it would be a great show to start off with. PPG is one of the series that I'd like to show all of, so we'll be watching it throughout the summer.

I don't know it's too new (2004, I think) but maybe Dave the Barbarian? I remember loving the hell out of that as a kid.

Seasons two and three of Rugrats are also great and when the series was at its best. Everything after that is complete trash though.

Hey guys, just a reminder that the stream is starting tonight at 7 pm eastern time :crack:. It may end up starting a little later than that as my internet is being worked on today, but I'll ballpark 7pm. We'll be watching episode 1-6 of The Powerpuff Girls and maybe an episode or two of something else afterwards. Stream link is in the OP, make sure to tune in :twonk:!

Sorry for the doublepost but the lineup for tonight's stream is here. We'll be watching 2 episodes of Courage the Cowardly Dog and 2 episodes of Ed, Edd, and Eddy. I know the stream dragged on abit last time so I'm going to make the weekday streams shorter and vary the programming abit more. So, another question for you guys, would we like Saturday streams to be marathon streams or would we rather have a variety couple-of-hours? Remember, I'm planning on streaming for 3-4 hours on Saturdays.

edit: stream's up http://www.livestream.com/snakesinacardboardbox

Noice!

For suggestions, have you been finding copies of the shows on your own to play, or are there ways for others to offer content for you to stream?

Anyway, here's some actual suggestions:

S2-3 of Spongebob
Goof Troop (an old fav)
Ducktales
Gargoyles
Samurai Pizza Cats (I've heard that there were no translations to the original Japanese version, so the actors had to improvise original scripts for the US dubbing. That'd be crazy to watch)
Pokemon (only a very select few from the original series)

Was great to watch both TAS & Jack today. One thing that struck me in Jack was a section where all the oil squirting out of the spider robots was put in slo-mo, nice & slow. I wonder why they directed those parts in particular to be slow?

Thanks for tuning in yesterday guys! I think ACTION STREAM is going to be a regular Saturday thing seeing as we have all of Jack to watch and quite a few other action series to choose from.
Davyinatoga wrote:Noice!

Most of it I'm just finding on my own; I haven't much trouble finding stream material.

I'll add some of these. Not too keen on pokemon though, there are only one or two animes that I would be wiling to stream.

Jack is great because there are so many individual scenes that you remember well after you watch them. Every episode is unique in its own way so they're easy to remember. :vogue:
