Happy Holidays, Dear Forums!
Right from my mom's living room, a typical German Christmas tree for your enjoyment:
Y'all are legit lovely people, and I'm still eternaly grateful to have found this community. No matter what you do during these days and if you have something to celebrate, I send you lots of good thoughts, hugs (if so desired) and all the very best luck for whatever's ahead of you. May you find some rest and relaxation during the holidays, and some peace that helps you recover and recharge. Be well, friends.

If anyone wants to enjoy some Christmas tunes, I recommend this channel/playlist:
Got a lot of classics in one spot, and (very importantly for me) they're all very clean, classic renditions.

Santa's elven armies have laid waste to the East Coast and are preparing for their next assault on the Central timezone. Steel yourselves, Mountain and Pacific people, for Santa Claus is coming to town.Gloomy Rube wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2017 12:07 amMerry Christmas to east coast people!!

Re: Happy Holidays, Dear Forums!
My two favorite gifts this year:
This Instant Pot, which is a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice/porridge maker, steamer, sauté/browner, yogurt maker and warmer in one. I've never made anything with a pressure cooker before, so I'm excited to try it out. I've also been perfecting a chili recipe that I'll be making for a chili cook-off against my friends in a couple weeks, so this will definitely come in handy for that.
And I got this Mountain Dulcimer! It'll actually be very useful for a show I'm currently working on (it starts airing next week). I have no idea what the proper way to play it is, but I can still make some pretty sounds with it.
Maybe I'll be able to do something like this eventually

I am planning on getting one of those Instant Pots after I move this week. I keep hearing amazing things about it.

Re: Happy Holidays, Dear Forums!
Regarding gifts, I got some money, some European Donald Duck comics, the comic about Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage, the Rejected Princesses book, an LED flashlight and some chocolates. The inlaws sent Lords of Waterdeep (lovely boardgame, we tried it out yesterday) and a Fire TV stick that I hope to see up for my mom in the next few days, since she's the only one at the moment who has a TV. I think she'll get some good use out of Netflix at the very least.
A few presents were late, so I'm looking forward to those being birthday presents instead.

Re: Happy Holidays, Dear Forums!
In addition to my Secret Celestia gifts, I got a bunch of books for Christmas: a print copy of "Let's Speak English", latest "Pearls Before Swine" treasury (which was accidentally delivered to my next-door neighbor, who thankfully brought it over), a hardcover collecting "SpongeBob" comic book stories, and a new "Magnificatz" book.
I should probably ask for a new bookshelf soon. I'm just piling books on whatever space I have at this point
I also got an electric shaver, and oh my god it's a life-saver for me. You know you're an adult when you legit appreciate getting a shaver for Christmas.

This Christmas I got a small whiteboard (60cm x 40cm) with pens and an eraser, the first volume of the Dirk Gently's Holisitic Agency comic book, The Legend of Korra Book 2 art book, a bunch of 3D-printed furniture for my D&D tavern for the next campaign, and... of course... money.

Re: Happy Holidays, Dear Forums!
Here's my haul:
- Nintendo Switch (Neon Blue/Red Joy-Cons)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Switch
- Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Switch (Explorer's Edition, which is just the stock game in a box with a map of the starting zone and a booklet that's...not that well written)
- Super Mario Odyssey for Switch
- The Binding of Issac Afterbirth + for Switch (sis got me this, not knowing I actually have Afterbirth + on steam, so the receipt is on the back. Not sure what I'll get in exchange for it though)
- Oster Belgian Waffle maker
- Awesome camo pants
- MLP blind bag figure; Shoeshine
- Hot Wheels "Boom Car"
- Stafford "Genuine Leather" built-in RFID shield wallet
- one White Mountain 2000 piece puzzle and two 1000 piece puzzles
- Wonderbook: The Illustrated Guide to Creating Imaginative Fiction (from my uncle, who heard I was doing National Novel Writing Month and have plans to get into self-publishing next year. It's a great looking book and guide).
Not pictured: HyperX Cloud Stinger VOIP Headset (forgot that too as it was an early Christmas gift)
I also got about $200 in gift money which will be going to some items that I've had interest in for some time.
And today while getting some necessities at the grocery store, I stopped by the Hallmark location just next door and picked up a Decepticon Soundwave ornament for 50% off - last one in the store!

Re: Happy Holidays, Dear Forums!
I got some neat gifts too, besides the awesome Secret Celestia things. Aline got me four different model kits(Jaguar GR.3, DHC-6, C-121C Super Constellation and Tu-144D), three t-shirts, a gift box containing a bottle of Ballantine's and two glasses and a small jug of maple syrup. And from my Secret Santa at work I got a nice bottle of red wine.
Meanwhile Aline's family sent her a package at the start of the month that according to tracking data arrived in Hong Kong yesterday. That's a bit of a detour...
