Of course, Krazy interprets the brick as a sign of love. I don’t think Cat and Mouse have the same odd relationship as Krazy and Ignatz :P
Give it time and someone will ship those two, I'm sure :-I

So I'm taking part in a "reanimate" thing, a scene from an episode of "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo" where Scooby and the gang ends up in a comic book. Here's a rough animation:

I'm only doing this because I want to get a hang of animating (I'm still a newbie at this), but I have to say I'm having a blast with it. It's been ages since I've done something new, art wise, and it's something I want to keep at it. I'm hoping to eventually do more animation with my characters, and I'm growing more confident at this, even if I'm fully aware I'm not a great animator or anything.

Finished this a while ago, but I thought I share it here. Colored the above animatino:

Full confession: the only reason I drew Scooby dead was so I didn't have to animate him. :-I

Thanks! I think I had the most fun with the mouths.

I normally draw them standard in the comics, so drawing new mouth shapes was fun. I wanted to make it more lively than in the original scene from Hanna-Barbera, but I worried if I went too overboard, although others who saw it said they laughed at the mouth movement :-I

While I still have a lot of things to prepare, I began writing my first draft for a script adapting "Ask a Cat" to animation.

Right now I'm going through old strips (over 200!) to see if there are any that's a good introduction in the animated incarnation, although I'm hoping to eventually create new stories exclusively for animation if this takes off, maybe even bringing in other writers depending on my budget.

One of the things I'm doing is expanding the idea from the old strips. There are some wording that I cringe at, and I used the opportunity to re-write some things. I'm basically taking a second crack at a lot of these old strips, some of which I haven't read since I originally drew them. It's a pretty good hindsight. Of course, I'll get it edited for future drafts, etc.

Image

Yeah, I know this isn't the proper script format, but I'm not doing this for Hollywood producers, so whatever :-I

In all seriousness, I wanted to put together reference images for the characters, but the old art were too cringey for me, so I made new ones.

I'll probably hate myself for this, but I'm thinking of republishing my "Fuzzy Princess" paperbacks in color. Specifically, take two B&W volumes and combine them into one, printed slightly larger (I'm shooting for 6.5x9.5), with all-new cover and maybe bonus materials if possible.

In order to able to sell this at a reasonable cost, I'd have to get it printed overseas off-set. I said to myself I wouldn't use Kickstarter again, but that seems to be the only viable method.

So my question is, would anyone be interested in a 350-page, full color collection of the comic at $20? Should I attempt to do a Kickstarter? If I go with that method, I'd REALLY have to do it differently than in my last failed attempt, but I don't know if I have the energy and will to go through with it again, especially since I've been so burned out by it.

At the Discord group I'm in they posted a challenge where we draw our characters in a 1990s "TOO KOOL FOR SKOOL" style. This is my contribution:

Normally I hate coloring, but this is one of the rare times I enjoyed doing it because I got to make the colors as garbage as possible and it would fit with the theme :-I

Today's Fuzzy Princess shows one of the downsides of drawing a year in advance: The witches mention that "old" Sabrina show, referring to the one that aired 1996-2003. But, as many people pointed out, there's a new version streaming on Netflix. This was bound of happen, alas.

Although I was told Salem the cat doesn't talk in the new show, so...

So I'm releasing two books this year. One for "Fuzzy Princess" that I Kickstarted, and another for "Ask a Cat".

Well, the "Ask a Cat" book is now out on Amazon!

Image

I worked on both books at the same time, but I decided to wait until the Kickstarter ended to release this so it wouldn't take away attention.

I'm thinking of turning "Catte Belle" into a regular comic. I still need to figure out the characters and such, although I have a few ideas written down. Here are a couple of comics I did as samples:

Something new I'm trying are the grays. That was done by applying inkwash on separate paper, scanning it in, and converting it to dots on Photoshop, which I then apply to the lineart layer.

The inkwash has to be done on separate paper or otherwise the lines will turn into dots as well. I learned that from this episode of "Manben"

I'm glad you've streamlined your process a bit. I know you already do a lot of back-and-forth between paper and digital, so it's nice you can get good results applying the grays in Photoshop.
