In entirely un-German news, we were at the Cheesecake Factory

It was indeed a glorious mess of appropriated aesthetic bullshit

Surprisingly tasty, though

Also I tried looking for bargain bin animated movies as paintube material and we somehow didn't find any???

You'd think these would be easy to get but neither Dollar Tree nor the grocery store even had a bargain bin for movies, wtf

Target was too classy and just had Rankin Bass specials and Scooby Doo movies, so only things with value

Help me out here, how does one buy crappy Disney knockoffs and their ilk around these parts

Walmart is probably too upscale too.

Your lower-mid-tier stuff is actually probably in supermarkets these days, surprisingly enough.

Also, try pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS.

Convenience stores may also be helpful, but that's less certain. The best convenience stores are usually big ones on major highways at best.

I know my local 7-11 has a lot of can't-even-rent-them-anymore used DVDs and such.

the walmart here has a huge bargain bin full of garbo, but apparently that varies. Might not hurt to check though.

if you want trash find a redbox machine tbh

its a vending machine for movies, basically

you can usually find them at drugstores by the entrance next to the propane and ice

But those usually have recent releases which aren't necessarily guaranteed to be garbage?

Go to a flea market type thing. You'll see some shirts.

I'm not sure about my flea market idea actually. In the UK, boot sales and regular markets are usually a safe bet for picking up knock off DVDs, tacky chinese printed shirts and questionably legal air rifles. That's what I'm going off here.

You know the shirts I mean. The ones with the incredibly detailed pictures of wolves taking up the whole shirt.

Yeah, places like Big Lots, Wal-Mart (although YMMV), and flea markets have some oddities on the cheap. Worth checking out if any are in your area.

Ship it to me if you must. I've been slowly working on ripping some old family VHS tapes if you're desperate :-I

I think they either delay the broadcast of these sorts of things or have their own events out west. I've never been farther west than the western parts of the Nashville area, though, so I don't know.

Also we watched Justice League and in my humble opinion it's a very boring and stupid movie with a bunch of forced humour shoved inbetween its pretentious shallow parts in order to pretend it has heart

Would not recommend

Literally the best praise I can give is

1) It's funtionally a movie, which means it is better than Suicide Squad
2) JK Simmons is a great fit for Commissioner Gordon
3) Khal Drogo as Aquaman looks hot

I'm honestly amazed how devoid of emotional value anything in the movie was

Literally everything Cyborg gets is "I was gonna die in an accident, but my father made me a robot man. I'm angry and confused about my new body. Oh, now I'm okay with it."

Like there is absolutely no tangible change for the audience to see between "fuck you dad, I don't wanna be a robot!!!!" and "AW YEAH I'M A COOL ROBOT". None. Nothing.

Also characters constantly just state their relationships and emotional stances about themselves and each other, because Zack Snyder had no time for actual character writing, he was busy writing his usual pseudo-cool and pretentious garbage, with some agressively generic "the funny kid" humour from the Flash to spice things up

It's a team movie where nobody ever feels like a team, and all the epic imagery and moments fall totally flat because absolutely none of it was earned

But hey, we had at least 5 close up ass shots of Wonder Woman, so that's awesome

Tally of today

Pros: Really tasty food, the family was mostly nice to be around, my outfit seemed to work out, we got to play the card game version of Mafia with the family which was genuinely funny
Cons: Someone made dumb comments about football players kneeling during the anthem, I had to sit through Justice League

All in all, an acceptable day
