It's very understandable you're peeved, but try not to get discouraged entirely, instead come back to this after you've had a good night's sleep or similiar way to de-compress. Being able to do at least basic maintenance on your computer will save you money and stress in the long run, which is especially beneficial as a freelancer who relies on the PC. It's quite likely you simply plugged a cable back in the wrong way or something on that line. This happens even to total pros, so don't feel like you are stupid for it. With some practice and better understanding, this sorta thing will feel less frustrating and imposing than it does now.

Hurray for me. I had some health expenses I could deduct so I ended up paying for TurboTax Deluxe (aka $80). I got absolutely nothing back, all because my fucking student loan bank requires tax returns to qualify for income-based repayment plans. And by law, you actually do not have to file when you earned nothing, like me.

I feel dumb and I also feel like I got fucked over by another stupid debt trap, and also I’m broke again. Fucking banks, fucking stupid me for not just learning how to fill out forms on my own.

Edit: I can take care of it, it’s just... gah, capitalism is foul.

And more bad luck for me. No more income. Just total brokenness. At least losing my job didn't entail me losing shelter.

Life is cruel I guess. It's below freezing (5° farenheit) but I have absolutely no money left. Either I stand in this cold or my family doesn't eat. We don't get gas to run the RV. We end up fucked

Are there any local resources that can help? Sometimes shelter offer job counselling, laundry facilities, and so on. They're not always a place to stay (although that is important too of course)

Shelter isn't a problem. Where we are is. We are not near any of the resources like food banks. And getting a job won't sold the issue of having absolutely no money on hand. No money means we can't get food. Or gas to power up the RV we are living. Right now all I have been doing is standing in below freezing westher holding a sign begging for money and that gets me maybe 2 or 3$ an hour. And with below freezing weather I can't do that for very long or risk frost bitten toes and fingers. (Yes I have gloves but they are dollar store gloves. Not very good.) We are at the end of our finances and I'm just panicking at the thought.

That's rough. Well if it does help, I did find a list of resources that are technically for the homeless, but again some have some other resources (such as food stamp assistance, mental health help, etc.) which the author seems to have bullet-pointed. Here.

Just letting you know this is currently a link to edit the post, which of course doesn't work since nobody but you (and mods I guess?) has permission to edit it

I wish you the best of luck though :flutterunsmith: I might even see if there's something I can get.

e: Oh, it's a deviantart post originally? The link is to edit a post here on TRS, like I said.

Fixed it.

I just wish someone would actually hit me up. But being a colorist doesn't pay at all it seems. People only commission drawing artists. :fluttersmith:

I lost one of my uncles this morning. My mom’s not taking it super well because her big sister passed away a few months ago. It’s been kind of a crummy year again already.

Hurray, got a flat tire and now I have no way to get to any of my appointments this week so I’m going to have to call tomorrow and reschedule all of them. And find a way to get it patched/buy a new tire.

Uuuuuuuugh.

It’s $350 for a new set of tires. Really hoping it doesn’t come to that.

Rule of thumb I know is that if it's in the tread and isn't too huge, it can be patched. In the wall, you're SOL.

But either way I hope it works out as best it can.

It was in the tread and it was patchable. It ended up being $25 because I ended up getting a front end align, want and a new cabin air filter, but still better than $350.

There’s a bunch of condos going up nearby so there’s always nails and shit in the road.

Pep Boys has always been super awesome for me with tires. I ran over a nail and had a slow leak 2 years after I'd bought my tires, so I figured I'd be SOL and have to buy a new tire. Nope, they patched it for free and sent me on my way. :pinkietoot:

One of my family's cats is really sick. Took her to the vet, and they've concluded that it's kidney failure, and there's nothing they can do to help her. They've given her some medicine to keep her comfortable in the short term, but she'd scheduled to be put down next week.

She's 11 years old, which I guess is pretty old for a cat? We have two who are 17 and 18 years old and still pretty healthy, though, so having this happen to one of the younger cats is still a shock. She's the most anxious and shy cat I've ever seen, but when things were quiet and you were sitting in the right spot, she'd approach you for attention and be the sweetest thing in the world. Her being so reclusive means that daily life won't exactly change around here, but it's still messing me up to know she's on her way out. Shit sucks.

Something I realized about myself: I hate it when I look stupid, especially if others are present. Like, absolutely, positively, REALLY hate it.

Hate it to the point it can ruin my day.

Nobody likes feeling this way. However, if it really wrecks your mental wellbeing and you struggle with being kind to yourself when you mess up, that's something worth taking seriously. Nobody enjoys making mistakes yet we all make them, but how badly we handle our mistakes matters a lot. Plus, your definition of "stupid" might be needlessly harsh on yourself. It can be worthwhile to ask yourself whether you would apply the same standard of "that looked stupid" to other people, and if no, why do you apply it to yourself?

When you constantly unfairly judge your own behaviour, it can make you really tense and stressed around people, and as a result it can make it hard for you to connect with them when you are too withheld to really "let loose". That in turn can easily feed the issue of feeling like others judge you negatively and you should judge yourself harder. It's a really frustrating, vicious cycle. As unpleasant as it might be to think about, at some point being more harsh on yourself makes things worse, not better. What you might consider a serious mistake you deserve scorn for might be something that makes you more human and approachable to others. Some food for thought, is all.

There's no payroll department. They have too mail the first checks. The only problem I dont have a mailing address. I already asked a coworker to have it mailed to his house but I'd still have to wait until 5/6 to see my glorious first check. I hate being rock bottom poor. Cuz i have $0 in my wallet. So if I forget my lunch I'm totally fucked.
