Who's talking? (Animation error thread)
We all know some of the common animation mistakes (layer error, wrong coloring, etc.), but there's one that people wouldn't think is common: where they animate the wrong character speaking a dialogue.
Here's an example (skip to 4:19). Luigi suddenly talks like Princess Toadstool.

The worst example has to be this, though, from a 1960s "Hot Wheels" cartoon (skip to 6:40):

A couple more. For Top Cat, Spook is talking in Fancy Fancy's voice

This usually happens because the animators don't always get the audio track (especially overseas, where they wouldn't understand English anyway), just a chart explaining which mouth shapes to use. If there's a typo or a misunderstanding, it's very easy to animate a wrong character speaking.

Re: Who's talking? (Animation error thread)
I realized that the "Top Cat" clip has TWO mistakes. When they cut from Fancy Fancy to Top Cat, they forgot to change/move the background, so it looks like Top Cat teleported in

If you post a smear in this thread I will emerge from your guts like a chestburster and destroy you.

The central figure has Springer's body but Kup's colors, so is it Springer or Kup?
By the way, Ultra Magnus's entire face is blue.
This is from the season 3 opening credits so it played dozens of times.

If we're going to talk about The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, we need address the elephant in the room.
This character had no face for the entire episode.

Re: Who's talking? (Animation error thread)
Wasn't that intentional as per production images like storyboards and model sheets?

it's possible but it wasn't adressed in the episode in any way if I remember correctly which still makes it incredibly bizarreOrange Fluffy Sheep wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 2:37 pmWasn't that intentional as per production images like storyboards and model sheets?

undeniably a mistake though: that time they forgot to add backgrounds to a few shots in Captain N

Re: Who's talking? (Animation error thread)
That one they did correct in later reruns. Supposedly the deadline for this episode was REALLY close, so they had to put this in, with the fixed version airing later.Perrydotto wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 2:47 pmundeniably a mistake though: that time they forgot to add backgrounds to a few shots in Captain N

Re: Who's talking? (Animation error thread)
Child's Play is a goddamn treasure trove of errors, being an episode animated by the Z-team at AKOM featuring size discrepancy as a plot element and apparently being unfinished on top.
B.O.T. and Carnage in C-Minor are also pretty bad for it, but they tend towards absurdity in script more often than in animation.
Not that they don't try.
