Well, will you look at that!

Double the Fun.wav, 1411 kbps, PCM uncompressed
Double the Fun.mp3, 320kbps

RIpped from Luna Eclipsed.

If there are any more requests, I'll see what I can do :)

This seems to be the best place for this, I do a lot of sound recording editing without mixing. Like, just voice tracks.

I use Audition 2.0, and I'm wondering how to increase the fidelity of my exported mp3s? Most of them end up at 100-125kbps. I really don't want to start saving all my voice recording in hugeass .wavs, so, maybe I just have a bad mp3 encoder?

Try what this thing says or just download Audacity + LAME (optionally + FFMPEG) and use it for making your targets. That trio is honestly pretty powerful for the basics.

I use Digital Performer with LAME. Audacity is free though, and I would recommend that as well. You should be able to export your file in any format and at any bit rate.

From that website wrote:2. This brings you to a dialog box that allows you to choose the parameters of the audio file that you want to save. The first thing you'll need to do is scroll down the file types to choose mp3PRO, which is the format of mp3 that Adobe Audition uses. To choose the type of mp3 bitrate that you want to use, hit "options," which brings you to a screen that lets you choose any bitrate, from 320 to very low bitrates, with a quick description of the quality of each. For professionally recorded audio, or anything that you don't want to have a noticeable drop in quality, you'll want to keep the quality above 192 kbps. If you're exporting an mp3 for use on the Internet, 128 may suffice, but you really don't want to use a lower bitrate unless you've recorded speech or anything else where quality isn't important. The larger the bitrate, the larger the file that is exported.

Yeah, I know all that, but, my issue with both the LAME and the mp3PRO is that the algorithm for variable high quality bit rate is, indeed, variable. If there are any mixed music tracks, yeah, it saves at the awesome 300+, but, when it is just voice, even when I export it with the HQ rate, it always drops the bitrate.

unless you've recorded speech or anything else where quality isn't important

This is the worst sentence. :bluh:

And while Audactiy is a great free recorder, having used it, and Goldwave, and Audition, Audacity is pretty lousy by comparison. That's why I sprung for Audition 2.0. I did try out Adobe Soundbooth, but, that was more for audio milti-track mixing and editing, specifically in regards for Dynamic EQ, which, with my recording setup, really isn't needed.

Maybe the Human Voice is so limited that...it sounds the same at 125 or 300 kbps.

E: Wait, just found a website about getting LAME to work in Audition. Going to try that when I get home. See if it sounds better than the inclused mp3PRO. Man, if LAME would export better, and I get to do it through Audition, that would be thuper.

I ripped the clip from FiW 4 when Sweetie Bot says "The Fun Begins Immediately!". It might be useful for someone:

That's not something I'm aware of... Did anyone else have this problem? I could reupload to mediafire or my public Dropbox.

Bumpin' an old thread, but could anyone rip "SCOOTALOO IS CORRECT" and "AND WE ALL LIKE ICE CREAM" from Friendship is Witchcraft episode 4? Need some more ring tones in the Sweetie Bot variety.

Man, these are so good. I wonder if we could get Griffin Lewis to provide the raw sound clips of some of those in high-quality. I'm tempted to actually use some of them, like back when all my system sounds were the turrets from Portal.

I got a Blackberry for work. Need to figure out which would be good for it... :pinkieshrug:

Can someone recommend a good sound for urgent mail? Also normal mail, instead of the boring sound it has.

I do want to put a Twilight Sparkle wallpaper... but its work. :applejargh:

I made these a while back. They're sized for an iPhone 4, but maybe it will work for a Blackberry? If you tell me what your screen resolution is I can make you one.

Cross-threadding, but, in that World of Tanks game, someone made a "Pony Voice Pack" so, instead of your crew yelling things like "The track has taken damage!" you get things like Dash going "BOOO!" from Boast Busters. There's a lot of variation, and it makes everything more lighthearted.
:yay: My fave is the Apple Family's "Awwwww" from episode 1 when you die.

There are voice packs for Team Fortress 2 too. One of the servers I'm on has it so that if you get headshotted by a sniper, Pinkie Pie declares "Holy moly, that's a lotta holeys!" And it plays the last line from the theme song when the round ends. (I'll have to suggest using the Disappointed Apple Family clip for if you lose; that would be very appropriate.)

Bringing this thread back for a couple of requests, if someone is nice enough to entertain them:
-Pinkie Pie's "SURPRISE!" for Twilight in The Ticket Master, including the little fanfare up until the lyrics start.
-Pinkie Pie's "Hello!" and "Howdy!" from the Smile song in A Friend in Deed.
:allears: please and thank you!
